Celtics Trade Fab Melo to Memphis, Acquire Donté Greene

By Âdil K

The Boston Celtics announced today that they had traded Center Fab Melo to the Grizzlies in exchange for Forward Donté Greene. Boston also threw in cash considerations in the deal.

This ends Fab Melo’s short stint with the C’s after being selected 22nd in the 2012 NBA Draft and subsequently being sent to D-Leauge team Maine Red Claws for development. It seemed as though maybe GM Danny Ainge aswell many Celtics fans had finally given up on the project of Fab Melo as no real progress was being shown as he still looked extremely raw in the Orlando Summer League that just passed.

Donté Greene, a 6-foot-11, 226-pound forward from Baltimore, Maryland, drafted by the Grizllies originally and later signing with them on April 17, 2013, played a total 0 games for the Grizz during the 2012-13 NBA season. He joins the Celtics with career averages 6.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists.

Although this still seems uncertain, @CLNS_JaredWeiss, Celtics locker-room reporter, believes that Boston will waive Donté once he joins the Green, in order to get under the salary cap.
