PHILIPPE COUTINHO: On Top of the World

Phillipe Coutinho, undermined by such brilliance in the Barclays Premier League such as the likes of Juan Mata and Garteh Bale, is a one of a kind player. He is not selfish, but yet still creative attacking and innovative in every way possible as a footballer.

The Brazilian youngster has been overlooked by pundits and experts, but such is the nature of the Premier League, when there is the prospect of Santi Cazorla, Juan Mata and David Silva shining elsewhere, the 21 year old has come to Anfield with a point to prove after being given few chances at Inter Milan.

Perhaps he has been overshadowed in the Brazil picture by a fellow skill magician in Neymar that he has not been able to strut his stuff in yellow. Unlike Neymar and other natural dribblers such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, he does not have a reputation for diving, and has been dubbed the “Brazilian Messi” because of his low centre of gravity and spectacular close control of the ball.

Coutinho is going to be the pinpoint of Liverpool’s season this year, with more depending on him than ever. Fellow South American counterpart is set to leave Anfield for Champions League football, so is the little maestro going to make him regret the move? Brendan Rodgers has been singing his praises for the midfielder ever since he snapped him up back in January, so now it is up to him to bring back the glory days to Liverpool.
