Neymar’s Potential Skyrockets on Home Soil

World Cup ·

Neymar’s brace in the World Cup opener was a crystal clear sign that he can hoist the nation on his shoulders and perform in this year’s World Cup. With potential already being fulfilled, how high can Neymar go in his career?

Plentiful in youth, flare and determination, Brazil’s lineup of youngsters have a heap of pressure on them as their footballing-enthusiast nation await glory.

However, Marcelo’s own goal, that caused short-term calamity for Brazil, showed the waste products that can have a fatal blow. Their reaction to the early blunder was imperative.

In his first season at Barcelona, Neymar settled in well, but still had a lot of critics to answer, especially when trophies and chances were frustratingly missed. His limelight in this tournament increases by tenfold.

At the age of just twenty-two years old, Neymar has already equalled the goalscoring of the illustrious Ronaldinho. There was no escaping that statistic, which speaks volumes of Neymar’s big steps.

Reliance on Neymar turned out to produce the all important goals. The opener was a sign of big things to come.

For his first World Cup game, the Barcelona forward ended up being the most important player of the pitch. He could have many more World Cups too.

Brazil really set the tone for their campaign with the opener – overcoming adversity, powering through and embracing the sweet taste of glory when the dust had settled.

Against Croatia one could observe Neymar and others thriving under the pressure. After the win, more will be expected of the Brazilians, but this could convert to the all important wins and progression.

The World Cup will provide the platform to show that Neymar can be one of the World’s best. Barcelona may be valuing him even further after he personifies the nation.

Neymar can just get better and better. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him becoming one of the finest Brazilian legends in history.

TSMs MOST DEADLY: Free Kick Takers

Free kicks, possibly the set-piece that can hurt a team the most. From thunderbolt screamers to outrageous curlers, there is a free kick style to suit every player. In this article, TSM reviews the 5 most deadly players around the world from free kicks.

 5. NEYMAR

Neymar has an ability to stun the best goalkeepers from free kicks and his set piece in the Confederations Cup against Italy stole the show.

4. LUIS SUAREZ

Luis Suarez can bend the ball like Beckham. He has a unique ability to use the inside of his foot to generate outward serve and also can net some top corner blasts.

3. JUAN MATA

Juan Mata has shown many times that he can compete with the best when it comes to taking free kicks. In his first season for Chelsea he brought the best out of David de Gea with ‘that’ save and the following season he finally got one over his Spanish counterpart.

2. HULK

Never has a footballer been so suitably named. He has everything that the green giant can, insane strength, and also blistering pace. That, and his thunderous shot from distance. Many a time he has tested keepers from almost near his own half and his free kick is the second most deadly in the world.

1. CRISTIANO RONALDO

Well, was there any doubt? CR7 is definitely the most dangerous at the dead ball. The dip, speed, swerve and height his shots generate is fantastic. He has scored as many free kicks as some strikers have scored goals and then some. His standout strikes came against Marseille and Portsmouth.

So, when you clicked on this article you probably expected CR7 to top the list, but you surely must have expected Lionel Messi to be in there somewhere too? For more articles like this one visit TheSportMatrix.com.

Brazil Silence Spaniards in Maracana Masterlass

Brazil lived up to an enthralling atmosphere in the Maracana stadium and thrashed world Champions Spain in a wonderful display.

Fred scored twice but Neymar, player of the tournament from us at TSM, once againstole the show with an outrages strike with his left boot. The Spanish were already reeling and being knocked around easily by the hosts and then Barcelona centre back Gerard Pique summed up their night as he was sent off.

It was the third time in a row that Brazil have won the Confederations Cup and they took the lead within 2 minutes to stop the Spanish in their tracks as Fred slotted in while off balance. Neymar scored the second for Brazil with a sweet-struck shot which flew past Casillas just before half-time. Fred wrapped up an overwhelming victory shortly after the break with a first time shot.

Spain may have been outclassed by a buzzing Brazilian team, but they were by no means out of it until late on. Midfield magician Andres Iniesta was at the heart of it all, forcing a few saves from Julio Cesar and flummoxed the defence with the aid of Fernando Torres. Had they converted one of these chances, paired with the fact that Sergio Ramos tamely put a penalty wide and Gerard Pique got sent off, things may have been very different for them, but it was not to be.
