Rickie Lambert capped a dream England debut by scoring a winning header with his first touch for the Three Lions.

West Brom midfielder James Morrison gave the visitors an early lead with a cannoned effort from 22 yards which Joe Hart spilled in to the net. The lead lasted eighteen minutes, before a cute pass from Tom Cleverley sliced the Scottish back-four open and set Theo Walcott away. Walcott waltzed into the area beforecutting in and rolling the ball through Allan McGregor. It was a quiet first half in terms of chances and even fouls or yellow cards. It did have physical edge to it, but nothing malicious.
In the second half Scotland came out recharged and determined, and Frank Lampard replaced Jack Wilshere. The Tartan Army’s spirit was ultimately defined by Kenny Miller scoring a spectacular goal from the edge of the box. The Vancouver Whitecaps marksman dummied Gary Cahill with his back turned to the goalmouth, and swivelled to slot home calmly. This time the lead only lasted four minutes though, Steven Gerrard floated in a delicous ball from a free-kick once again and Danny Welbeck provided the goods. There was an altercation between Robert Snodgrass and Theo Walcott before the England equaliser which meant they were both booked. Gerrard was then replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Danny Welbeck tried an acrobatic strike but it flew wide of the right-hand post. James Milner came on for Cleverley and Rickie Lambert made his debut, coming on for Wayne Rooney. Just a couple of minutes later, Lambert was celebrating his first England goal after a bullet header with his first touch. It just seemed to be written in the script, nothing could ruin it. Lambert had another chance late on in stoppage time and his strike blasted of the post, denying a debut brace for the Scouse.
