Carl Froch cemented his Boxing legacy after stopping George Groves in the 8th Round, landing a devastating right hand, to seal the victory.

Carl Froch defeated George Groves with a brutal knockout victory, sending George Groves crashing to the canvas, in front of 80,000 strong at Wembley Stadium.

The undercard saw Anthony Joshua, Jamie McDonnell, Kevin Mitchell and James DeGale all win their fights by way of knockout.

Froch and Groves both started very cautiously, picking their jabs and slowly testing out each other, which saw Groves win the opening round.

Many said that Froch won the second round, as his left jab was scoring successfully, putting “The Saint” under a bit of pressure.

The fight came more alive heading towards the 4th and 5th rounds, as both men were landing bigger and better punches. Froch put Groves on the ropes with a barrage of shots, while Groves hit back with a tremendous left hand, stunning The Cobra.

Carl Froch was the fighter who actually started well and quicker than Groves, landing his left jab well and on the odd occasion, hitting Groves with a right hand. Most people had Froch ahead on the scorecard, but Groves wasn’t out of the fight yet, as he was also landing some great punches, making it difficult for the judges to score the 6th/7th round.

As it seemed Groves was starting to build more and more confidence as the fight went on, he was to be stopped in his tracks, when half way through swinging for a left hook, Froch caught him with a beautifully timed punch, absolutely flooring The Saint, leaving him laid flat out on the canvas, giving the referee no choice but to end the contest, shattering Groves’ dream of World Title glory.

Quickfire fight recap

– Both fighters start well, Froch only just comes out on top in the early rounds
– Groves comes back, lands more punches during the 5th/6th/7th rounds
– Froch brutally stops Groves with a right hand out of nowhere in the 8th Round

What’s next?

Carl Froch said himself that he would like to go to Vegas and fight, but after James DeGale defeated Brandon Gonzalez, he is right in the frame for a shot at Froch, so the Nottingham fighter could face off with “Chunky.”

Carl Froch said at the post-fight press conference “If I lost I would’ve retired.” But, he didn’t lose and The Cobra goes marching on!

Brock Lesnar Return to WWE Expected Soon

Breaking news came in today regarding a possible return for “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. These reports have been informed by WWE officials, so read on for more details and why the reason he may be returning for.

Brock Lesnar is a guy loaded with amazing accomplishments, and one of those accomplishments involves ending The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak, which only happened last month. Now “The Beast” is expected to return shortly, but why?

There are many reasons or angles for Lesnar to return for, and a possible match that is being discussed by WWE officials is a bout with current Paul Heyman Guy, Cesaro. If this match does go ahead, I can see Cesaro winning, since WWE officials backstage are really high on him, and they would want him to go over someone like Lesnar.

Another match that was and still maybe being considered is Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan (c) for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Although this would be a brilliant feud and match, I can’t see it happening, since Bryan is rumored to be facing Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam, but I think everyone who watches WWE knows, anything can happen.

Who do YOU think Brock Lesnar should face when he returns? Be sure to tell us in the comment box!

Louis van Gaal Eyes Signing of Dutch Duo

Newly announced Manchester Untied manager Louis van Gaal is already eyeing different transfer deals, and the Dutchman has made it clear that he is after the signing of these two talented players. Read on to find out which two Dutch players are linked with a move to United.

Embedded image permalinkLouis van Gaal is arguably one of the best mangers ever to coach a professional Football club, and with the Dutchman now in charge of Manchester United, (after the sacking of Scotsman David Moyes who frustrated United and their fans with a lackluster 7th place finish), big things may be in store for the Red Devils.

The first player of the Dutch duo that van Gaal is eyeing, is 22-year old Dutchman, Jordy Clasie, who plays the midfield role that United are desperate to fill this summer. Van Gaal put trust in Clasie to play in the national Netherlands team, and a move to Manchester United does seem quite likely. I think this would be a great signing for United. With the tiring legs of Carrick and Fletcher, the 22-year old midfielder would be a great replacement and would fit in the team well with the likes of Kagawa and Mata.

The other Dutch player Louis van Gaal is keen on signing is towering centre half, Bruno Martins Indi. The new upcoming star of Netherlands players for Feyenoord, along with Jordy Clasie, would fit perfectly into the Manchester United team, as veteran centre backs Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand are departing the club. It’s fair to see United would need at least 1 or 2 new defenders, as Smalling, Jones, Rafael, Evans, etc probably aren’t enough to lead the Red Devils to Premier League glory. You can still keep those defenders, as they are all talented, but you need another young and upcoming star like Martins Indi. He is the rock of the Netherlands defence, so signing him would definitely improved the United back four. So with the World Cup quickly approaching, van Gaal will be closely monitoring the performances of Clasie and Martins Indi.

Do you think van Gaal signing these two new, talent upcoming Dutch players is a good idea? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comment box, and thank you for reading!

Senna Special: Preview For 2014 Monaco Grand Prix

BY KEITH MEHAFFEY

Formula one’s showpiece race weekend will soon be upon us. Here is my special preview recognising the sports best ever driver.. Ayrton Senna.

6 time Monaco Grand Prix winner Ayrton Senna

The idea of holding a F1 race around a small twisty street circuit like Monaco would be laughed at these days. There is something very special about Monaco from a motorsport perspective. The great Juan Manuel Fangio won the first F1 World Championship race here back in 1950 in the incredible Alfa Romeo 158. The principality street circuit has become a favourite on the F1 calender ever since.

So many memories, so many amazing races and drivers down the years, this place has delivered many of F1`s most memorable moments. Undoubtedly the greatest driver to have won here was the late great Ayrton Senna. He won 6 times in Monaco, once for Lotus in 1987 and then five times in a row for McLaren from 1989 to 1993. Some would argue that he should have won in 1984 in the Toleman as he passed Alain Prost on the finish line as the race was red flagged due to extreme wet weather. He nearly won it in 1988 but with a massive lead going into the last few laps made a mistake and crashed out.

Senna announces his arrival as a F1 driver with an amazing drive to nearly win the 1984 race.

Back in the early 90`s the cars were turbo charged monsters. Yet one man showed he could tame his car and the circuit! Some of the laps he put in with onboard cameras remain some of the most amazing footage ever seen in F1. Screaming around often one handed due to the manual gearboxes through tight twisty streets, just amazing, lets take a look!

Incredible on board footage with Ayrton Senna around Monaco.

I remember watching in 1992 as Nigel Mansell in his faster Williams just could not overtake Senna during the closing laps. Senna put on a masterclass of defensive driving to hold off Mansell. Brilliant driving by Senna.

Monaco is the race that deep down every driver wants to win. Together with the Indianapolis 500, Le Mans 24hr race It forms part of the legendary “Triple crown of motorsport”. This was only ever won by one driver in history.. Graham Hill.

“Mr Monaco” Graham Hill, 5 time winner around the principality

This weekend we will see the class of 2014 battle it out in the latest chapter of this Grand Prix `s history.Who will win? I have a sneaky suspicion that the impressive Williams team could pull off a surprise this weekend. This circuit is all about downforce and speed through corners. Surely the domain of the Mercedes and Red Bull teams? Can Jenson Button and the McLaren team get back to winning ways on a circuit that McLaren have dominated in the past?
This race demands total concentration for 2 hours, it is the nearest F1 gets to an endurance race.

My podium prediction? 1st Lewis Hamilton 2nd Sebastian Vettel 3rd Valtteri Bottas

There is only one Monaco and there was only one Ayrton Senna, master of Monaco. Can`t wait for lights out on Sunday!

In memory of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger.

Full Preview For Spanish Grand Prix 2014

BY KEITH MEHAFFEY

The new F1 season comes to Europe for round 5 of the championship. All the drama of Formula 1 will venture to the Circuit de Catalunya the venue for the 2014 Spanish Grand Prix.

A two horse race this year for the championship? Well, given the commanding performances to the first four races you would be forgiven for thinking that the Mercedes team have it sewn up already. For me I am certain that they will be challenged hard toward the later part of the season. Despite winning the last 3 races Lewis Hamilton still lies second in the championship just 4 points behind his team mate Nico Rosberg. The British driver is in arguably his best form since winning the 2008 championship and will be hard to beat once again.

Ride with Pastor Maldonado as he grabs pole in 2012.

The Red Bull team have developed a brand new chassis for Sebastian Vettel here in Spain while team mate Daniel Ricciardo will have to wait until Silverstone before he will receive his. The team insist this was planned at the start of the season and not necessarily a reaction to Vettels poor form.

Red Bull’s Aussie searches for success

One man who always goes well here is the Spanish fans firm favourite and last years winner Fernando Alonso. Not sure he can repeat that win again this time out in a Ferrari down on power and grip. His and team mate Kimi Raikkonen`s much talked about pre season rivalry has not sparked into life in a disappointing season for the Ferrari team.

Alonso eager for a win like a year prior

My podium prediction?
Not many shocks here!

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Nico Rosberg
3.Fernando Alonso

Spanish Grand Prix Facts

  • The circuit has been the location for the Spanish Grand Prix since 1991 when Nigel Mansell won a thrilling race in the Williams.
  • Michael Schumacher holds the most wins here with 6 wins.
  • Ferrari have won most Grand Prix in Spain (all circuits) with 12 wins.
  • Race length will be 66 laps.
  • Circuit length is 2.892 miles.
  • There will be 2 DRS zones, one along the back straight between turns 9 and 10, the other along the pits straight.

Can their rivals mount a serious challenge to the dominant Mercedes team? Lets find out as we prepare for lights out at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday!

WWE SMACKDOWN: Shield And Bryan Send a Statement, Wyatt’s Send Message to Cena

BY CENA HARPIN

Smackdown has been very entertainingly the past few weeks, and this week’s was no different. The show saw The Shield and Daniel Bryan send out a huge statement, and The Wyatt Family send another eerie message to John Cena.

JOHN CENA ADDRESSES THE WWE UNIVERSE:

Bray Wyatt declares his intention to get extreme with John Cena: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

John Cena kicked off Smackdown, and the Cenation leader started talking about recent events that have happened in the WWE as of late. He mentioned the young NXT rookie, Paige defeating AJ Lee to win the Divas Championship, the end of The Undertaker’s legendary WrestleMania streak, and Daniel Bryan overcoming the odds to knock off not just Triple H, but both Randy Orton and Batista as well to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Cena was interrupted by Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family. As they were in their usual dark, creepy location somewhere backstage, Bray Wyatt cut another bonechilling promo, and by what he was saying, it sounds like we could see Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena II at Extreme Rules.

CESARO W/ PAUL HEYMAN VS. THE BIG SHOW:

Embedded image permalink

In a match that lasted around 5-10 minutes, Cesaro and Big Show went back-and-fourth, with both guys showing big feats of strength. In the end, Jack Swagger interrupted the match, and attacked Cesaro, until Big Show got rid of “The Real American”. To send a huge statement, Cesaro delivered a huge Neutralizer on the near 500 pound giant, Big Show. After what happened here, we may well see a match between two former friends, Jack Swagger and Cesaro at WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view, Extreme Rules.

FINAL RESULT: Cesaro def. Big Show via. Disqualification.

BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. KOFI KINGSTON:

Kofi Kingston vs. Bad News Barrett: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

After returning to in-ring action last Monday on Raw, Bad News Barrett was hungry for another victory, and Kofi Kingston was his next target. In a fairly decent bout that lasted about 10 minutes, Barrett got the win over Kingston with a sickening Bull-hammer Elbow, knocking Kofi Kingston’s lights out. It’s great to see Barrett back in the ring, and collecting victories while he’s at it. Things are definitely looking up for the Manchester born Superstar.

FINAL RESULT: Bad News Barrett def. Kofi Kingston via. Pinfall.

LOS MATADORES VS. RYBACK & CURTIS AXEL:

Los Matadores vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

Ryback and Curtis Axel had been on quite good form as of late, and the former Paul Heyman Guys looked to continue that form bighead into this match against Los Matadores. The match wasn’t really top quality, as it was filler. Ryback & Axel managed to grab the win, and continue their decent form.

FINAL RESULT: Ryback & Curtis Axel def. Los Matadores via. Pinfall.

ROB VAN DAM VS. DAMIEN SANDOW

Rob Van Dam vs. Damien Sandow: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

After losing to RVD on Raw, Damien Sandow hoped to get revenge on Van Dam by beating him here. Sadly fro Damien Sandow, that didn’t happen. The match was actually good, with some high-paced, back-and-fourth action. In the end, being the dare-devil he is, RVD launched himself from the top rope, hitting his signature move “Five Star Frog Splash” on Damien Sandow to pick up the win. I like RVD, but it’s very sad to see Sandow lose, yet again.

FINAL RESULT: Rob Van Dam def. Damien Sandow via. Pinfall.

DANIEL BRYAN ENGAGES IN A HULKAMANIA POSE-FEST WITH HULK HOGAN:

Daniel Bryan engages in a Hulkamania pose-fest with Hulk Hogan: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

I really enjoyed this segment. Seeing Hulk Hogan, the man who has done it all, with a man who has a VERY bright future ahead of him, Daniel Bryan was amazing. One generation to another. Hogan started talking about WrestleMania 30, and how great a spectacle it was, and he then brought out the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan. The leader of the “Yes Movement” said that Hogan was his childhood hero, and inspiration to succeed. He also said he has always be a “Hulkamaniac”. Hogan and Bryan ended the segment by posing to The Hulkster theme song.

SANTINO MARELLA W/ EMMA VS. FANDANDGO W/ LAYLA:

Santino Marella vs. Fandango: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

In a match that lasted no longer than 5 minutes, Fandango got the win over Santino Marella with a roll-up pin, thanks to Layla causing a distraction to Santino. The match wasn’t really anything special. But, I’m looking forward to see what happens next for Fandango and Layla.

FINAL RESULT: Fandango def. Santino Marella via. Pinfall.

DANIEL BRYAN & THE USOS VS. RANDY ORTON, BATISTA & KANE:

Daniel Bryan & The Usos vs. Randy Orton, Batista & Kane: SmackDown, April 11, 2014

This match was probably the best part of the night. As you’d expect, Bryan & The Usos brought the high-paced, high-flying action to the match, while Orton, Batista, and Kane brought more of a type of power, and the general wrestling. The match ended in a double-countout, with both teams brawling. Orton and Batista laid out The Usos, and just as Kane was about to do the same, The Shield came out, and started attacking Kane. Orton and Batista ran from The Hounds Of Justice, and left Kane to fend for himself. It didn’t end well for the Director Of Operations, and Daniel Bryan knocked his lights out with a running knee. The Shield and Daniel Bryan stood tall in the ring, looking up at Orton and Batista who were on the ramp.

FINAL RESULT: Daniel Bryan, The Usos, and Batista, Randy Orton and Kane wrestled to a double-countout.

Do you give Smackdown a thumbs up, or thumbs down? Be sure to share you thoughts in the comment box below!

NCAAB: Carolina Upsets Louisville

BY Neil Mehta

The North Carolina Tar Heels Upset The Defending National Champion Louisville Cardinals On Sunday To Win The Hall-Of-Fame Tip-Off Tournament

Sophomore Stud Marcus Paige During Carolina’s Win Over Louisville.

After last Sunday’s loss against Belmont, things weren’t looking good for the Heels. It was different today. After beating Richmond yesterday, Carolina had a game against #3 Louisville for the Hall-Of-Fame Tip-Off Championship. Many notable analysts and fans speculated a Carolina loss. But you can’t doubt Carolina! The Heels beat the defending National Champions 93-84 to win the Hall-Of-Fame Tip Off Championship on Sunday. Marcus Paige lead the Heels, with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Brice Johnson and Kennedy Meeks finished up nicely too, with 13 points each. James Michael McAdoo was solid with 9 points too. Louisville did have the game’s leading scorer with Russ Smith and his 36 points. Chris Joseph also had 18 points and 7 rebounds for the National Champions. With this win, the #24 Tar Heels are 4-1 and should be expecting a Top 15 rank in this week’s AP Poll.

NFL: Head Coaches With Health Concerns

BY  Neil Mehta

Texans’ Head Coach Gary Kubiak Taken To A Houston Hospital After Collapsing During Halftime Of Sunday’s Game Versus  Indianapolis. John Fox Was Also Taken To A Charlotte Hospital After Feeling Dizzy While Golfing.

Gary Kubiak After His Fall During Sunday’s Game Against Indianpolis.

The 7-1 Denver Broncos are now without head coach, John Fox. Fox went to a Charlotte hospital after feeling dizzy while golfing. Fox has undergone an aortic valve replacement surgery early, he should be out several weeks with his recovery. Jack Del Rio has been named the interim head coach. He will also continue his duties as Defensive Coordinator.  Texans’ head coach Gary Kubiak also experienced some medical problems this week. Kubiak collapsed right after halftime during Sunday’s game against the Colts. It has been reported Kubiak didn’t have a heart attack and his collapse was a result of being dizzy and light-headed. Kubiak should be fine and should be back with the Texans soon.
