A 6-4 7-5 6-4 win bagged Murray a sum of £1.6 million, along with a huge triumph for himself along with the entire nation in a monumental day.

This win concluded a very dramatic Wimbledon tournament that was undoubtedly one for the ages.

A first set spanning exactly an hour was a physical start to the game, long rallies and some fine entertainment that saw Murray prevail by 6 games to 4.
