WWE RAW: Undertaker Gives Lesnar A Fright, Wyatts Catch Cena In Their Clutches

BY CENA HARPIN

BROOKLYN, NY – The Undertaker struck “fright” into Brock Lesnar, after rising from a coffin, launching Lesnar over the top rope, sending The Beast into retreat – part of another jam packed RAW from Brooklyn with WrestleMania a fortnight away.

Raw kicked off with one of the principle owners of WWE, Stephanie McMahon. She said that Triple H will defeat Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, and will then progress to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. McMahon was then interrupted by the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton. He went on to talk about how he respects both Stephanie and Hunter, but says he will not be responsible for what he does to The Game, if he enters the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, at the Showcase of Immortals. And then, both Stephanie and Orton were interrupted by “The Animal” Batista. He came out and made it very clear that he will be the one who walks out of WrestleMania as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Tension then started to build between Batista and Orton. Batista then started to throw insults at Stephanie, causing her to slap The Animal, wiping his sunglasses right off his face. As Orton started laughing, Batista turned around, and flattened Randy with a huge spear, nearly breaking The Viper in half. Batista then held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up high, to close the opening segment.

CHRISTIAN VS. SHEAMUS VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO TO DETERMINE THE NO. 1 CONTENDER TO THE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE

To determine the No. 1 Contender to Big E’s Intercontinental Championship, Christian, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, and Alberto Del Rio battled it out in a Fatal-Four-Way match.

This was arguably one of the best matches of the night, as all men put on some solid high-paced, back and fourth action throughout the match.

Review: As Sheamus had Alberto Del Rio helpless in a Clover Leaf, Dolph Ziggler crept up from behind, and Zig Zagged both Sheamus and Del Rio, only for Captain Charisma to plant Ziggler flat out on the canvas with a Killswitch, picking up the victory.

Christian will now challenge Big E for the Intercontinental Championship, on this episode of WWE Main Event.

SIN CARA VS. DAMIEN SANDOW

Accompanied by Scooby Doo, Sin Cara battled Damien Sandow, in a match that only lasted around 5 minutes.

It’s fair to say that the crowd weren’t very interested in this match, and it wasn’t anything special. Just a typical squash match.

Review: Sin Cara defeats Damien Sandow via. Pinfall in around 5 minutes. The crowd was completely dead during this contest, and it’s sad to see Damien Sandow jobbing, yet again.

LOS MATADORES VS. CURTIS AXEL & RYBACK

Los Matadores take on Curtis Axel and Ryback, in a simple tag team bout. The match was nothing special.

It was announced last that Axel & Ryback, along with The Real Americans will challenge The Usos for the Tag Team Titles, so a win here for Axel/Ryback would definitely give them some momentum heading into WrestleMania.

Review: Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel & Ryback via. a Roll-up pin. After Axel & Ryback, along with other tag teams helped beat down The Shield last week on Raw, the Hounds of Justice were back and ready to serve some well-deserved payback. Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns surrounded the ring, distracting Axel, leading to one of the Matadores rolling him up for the win. After the match, Axel & Ryback stood back-to-back, anxiously waiting for The Shield to pounce. As Roman Reigns stepped up to the apron, Axel went for him, but Reigns then dropped, caught Axel’s leg, and dragged him out of the ring. Reigns made quick work of Axel, as Ambrose and Rollins targeted the “Big Guy” in the ring. Ryback managed to get the pair off his back, until Reigns entered the ring, and floored Ryback with a massive spear. The punishment wasn’t over just yet, as all members of The Shield Triple-Powerbombed Ryback, sending out a huge statement.

MICHAEL COLE INTERVIEWS TRIPLE H

Michael Cole sat down in the ring with Triple H to discuss why the COO sickeningly assaulted Daniel Bryan last week. This segment was actually good. Cole asked some good questions, which everyone wanted to hear, and put Triple H on the spot.

ReviewYet again, the Cerebral Assassin cut another brilliant, heel promo, grabbing the attention of the WWE fans in attendance. He vowed that he will beat Daniel Bryan, and go on to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

CODY RHODES VS. FANDANGO

With both Goldust and Summer Rae at ringside, this was a half-decent back-and-fourth match, that lasted no longer than 10 minutes.

Review: Cody Rhodes defeats Fandango via. Pinfall. Like I said, it was a finally decent match, with a few good spots. I do think it’s time for Cody to progress up to the main event scene though. Things don’t look too good for Fandango though, as he actually got beat by the Disaster Kick, which isn’t an actual finisher move.

THE MIZ INTERRUPTE HULK HOGAN, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER & JOE MANGANIELLO
Hulk Hogan, Arnold, and Joe basically cut a short promo each, and then Arnold and Joe promoted their new film that comes out soon, Sabotage.

Review: After they cut their promos, they were all surprisingly interrupted by The Miz. He came out and went on about how he’s the most must see Superstar in history, and then said Hogan doesn’t belong in the WWE anymore. Joe Manganiello got in his face, and pushed him, until Miz went after him, only to get a punch by Joe, Arnold, and a whip over the top rope by The Hulkster, Hulk Hogan.

THE BIG SHOW VS. TITUS O’NEIL

Pretty lackluster match if I’m honest. It lasted just over 5 minutes.

Review: Big Show defeats Titus O’Neil via. Pinfall, after hitting the K.O Punch. Pretty disappointing match, and outcome. I like Big Show, but it’s just not fair on Titus. I had a lot of high hope for him when WWE turned him heel last month, but it just seems like they’ve completely dropped the ball on him. Again, disappointing.

JOHN CENA VS. LUKE HARPER

I actually thought this match was very good. I enjoy both Cena and Harper’s in-ring work, and they put on a decent match. It lasted about 10-14 minutes, with some solid spots and maneuvers.

Review: The match lasted about 10-14 minutes, with some solid spots and maneuvers. Things didn’t get well for Cena, as the lights went out, and as we think he was attacked during the blackout, he had his arms trapped between the ropes, and believe it or not, he was wearing a Goat Mask. Yes, you heard it right. John Cena wearing a Goat Mask. So yeah I thought the match was good, and the ending was good too. I’m enjoying this feud.

 AJ LEE VS. NAOMI

AJ Lee vs. Naomi in a non-title match lasted around 5-7 minutes. Not good, but not bad. I both Divas are very talented and have a bright future ahead of them in the WWE.

Review: Naomi defeats Divas Champion AJ Lee via. Count-Out. After AJ and her “heavy” Tamina walked out on the match, they were confronted by Vickie Guerrero, who appeared on the stage. Vickie called AJ a bitch, and announced that she will be defending her Divas Championship at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Vickie said that she will be defending her title in a “Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational”. The match will include every single Diva, including her buddy Tamina, who actually had a grin on her face, after the match was announced. Well the cards are most definitely stacked against AJ now!

DEAN AMBROSE & SETH ROLLINS VS. THE REAL AMERICANS
Many people said that this match stole the show, and I don’t think they’re wrong. What a match this was. Not just your typical tag team, match. It contained all kinds of wrestling like technical, powerful, and brutal stuff.

Review: Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins defeat The Real Americans via. Pinfall. In this brilliant match, the ending was spectacular. Rollins took Cesaro out on the outside, and turned his attention back to Jack Swagger in the ring. Rollins managed to get Swagger rocking, and capitalized hitting his finishing move, “The Peace Of Mind”, to pick up the victory. After the match, Cesaro attacked Rollins from behind, only to receive a big Superman punch from Roman Reigns. And as Cesaro rolled out of the ring, the Samoan Beast sprinted around the corner, and absolutely flattened Cesaro with a thunderous Spear. The Shield were’t done there, as Rollins cleared the announce table. Yep, I think you know what’s coming. It’s Triple-Powerbomb time! Rollins and Ambrose lift Cesaro up, stack his legs on Reigns’ shoulders, and BOOM! Cesaro’s body cripples as he crashes through the announce table, with a brutal force. But as The Shield stood tall, they were interrupted by the three men who were responsible for the sickening beatdown on them last week, Kane and The New Age Outlaws appeared on the stage. Kane announced that The “Hounds of Justice” will face off against Kane himself, and The New Age Outlaws. After announcing the match, Kane screamed “BELIEVE THAT!”.

BROCK LESNAR CALLS OUT THE UNDERTAKER

I think this was a brilliant segment. Definitely worthy of closing the show. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. But, I don’t think this feud has been built up correctly. It doesn’t help that both Lesnar and Undertaker are part-timers.

Review: The Beast Incarnate and his manager Paul Heyman entered the ring, and Heyman talked about how Brock was going to Conquer The Streak, but was acknowledging the challenge and Undertaker’s accomplishments at WrestleMania, the same time. As Heyman continued talking, Lesnar firmly snatched the microphone out of Heyman’s hand, and said “I’m not here to promote. I’m here to fight. I’m here. You’re (Undertaker) here. Lets. Do. THIS!” A few seconds after Brock called The Deadman out, the lights went dark and a coffin was slowly brought down to ringside. Lesnar hesitated to open it, as he was prodding, and kicking it. He eventually opened the coffin, and it was empty. Brock got really frustrated and was about to leave, just as he heading towards the ropes, the coffin lid slowly opened, and The Undertaker was laid there. Fear was struck into Lesnar and Heyman, as The Phenom got out, and came into the ring. Him and Lesnar faced-off, until Undertaker went for The Beast, unloading on him with right and left hands to the head and body. With power, The Beast was launched over the top rope, hitting his head on the coffin, and rolling over. The Undertaker definitely has the most momentum out of the two heading into WrestleMania!

RESULTS:
  • Christian won a Fatal-Four Way Match to become the No. 1 Contender to the Intercontinental Championship.
  • Sin Cara def. Damien Sandow.
  • Los Matadores def. Curtis Axel & Ryback.
  • Cody Rhodes def. Fandango.
  • Big Show def. Titus O’Neil.
  • John Cena def. Luke Harper.
  • Naomi def. Divas Champion AJ Lee, in a Non-Title match.
  • Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins def. The Real Americans.
With WrestleMania nearing closer, things got even more heated. Are you ready for New Orleans?

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW: The Reign of Terror Continues, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan Fall Victims

Episode 1058 – Monday 2 September, 2013
Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines, IA.

By TheSportMatrix.com

DES MOINES – The ‘Reign of Terror’ continued on RAW on Monday, as Cody Rhodes was fired after losing to the WWE Champion Randy Orton, along with the Big Show selling out.

The Corporation took things to a whole new level on Monday Night. (via WWE.com)

TRIPLE H AND RANDY ORTON KICK-OFF THE SHOW:

The show started off with Triple H in the ring, and once again the Shield of Justice – Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns were on hand at ringside serving as security.

HHH introduced the WWE Champion Randy Orton out to the ring, where both had some stern words for the former Champion Bryan, garnering much heat from the Des Moines crowd. As The Cerebral Assassin babbled on, he claimed that Daniel Bryan was the modern Doink The Clown of the WWE among claiming that “Daniel Bryan will never be WWE Champion” Shortly after, D Bryan’s music played, and out he came. Bryan began cracking insults back at the two in the ring, saying “the only clowns he sees, are the ones in the ring” and calling them “sellouts”.

“Should I give up my WWE Championship Match at Randy Orton at Night of Champions?”
…”NO! NO! NO!” – Daniel Bryan

Triple H answered back, telling Bryan that he should not be angry with him and Orton, but instead with a 7ft, 500lb beast – The Big Show, who, apparently, still has an iron clad contract yet did not help Bryan during his beatdowns by the Shield and Orton in the recent weeks. With pretty much everyone knowing where The Game was leading to, he announced that Daniel Bryan would be facing The Big Show on RAW in the Main Event.

REVIEW:

A lazy way to start the show, as it was nearly Déjà vu for the WWE Universe as it was Triple H kicking off the show again insulting Bryan and putting him in a match, blah… blah… blah…

At least The Game made up for it after, dropping a bombshell backstage:

FANDANGO VS. THE MIZ:

Fandango vs. The Miz, the feud that not many care about, was the next match on the card. It was a pretty standard match with it going back and forth but there was nothing close to spectacular or anything to really gauge the interest of the WWE Universe. The Miz locked in the figure-four leglock, after about 4 seconds Fandango tapped, and that was that.

WINNER: The Miz

Where does The Miz go from here? (via WWE)

REVIEW:

Apparently Fandango apparently broke his nose during the bout. Major props to Fandango and the WWE for continuing the bout. But seriously, WWE needs get more creative with these mid-card matches and feuds, seriously.

Backstage, Booker T wanted to talk to Daniel Bryan. Booker said Bryan was “too good to go back to local gyms and wrestle for 50 bucks.” and that he “needs to rethink about going against the McMahons”. The former SmackDown! GM advised Bryan to give up the WWE Championship match. Bryan then responded yelling “Tell me you didn’t just say that!”, a quote that Booker is know for. The segment ended by Booker cautiously advising Bryan to think about it, and assured him that he  was on his side. It was a good way to get over the seriousness of the situation.

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. RYBACK:

After making his way to the ring and waiting for his opponent, Ziggler was ambushed from behind by Dean Ambrose. Ambrose continued to beatdown Dolph, driving him shoulder-first into the ring post, until Ryback’s made his way out (to an ocean of “GOLDBERG!” chants) for his match vs. Dolph.

Ryback continued the assault on Ziggler as the crowd started a “You can’t wrestle” chant. Ziggler suddenly dropped Ryback with a dropkick as a counter to the meathook clothesline. Ryback came back (no pun) and this time was successful with the meathook clothesline, followed by the ShellShock to pick up the victory.

WINNER: Ryback

REVIEW:

Yet another angle driven match to put over The McMahon’s and the Shield’s “reign of terror” over the WWE. Both superstars have nosedived from Main Event status to well, that… shame.

STEPHANIE MCMAHON ADDRESSES THE BIG SHOW:

Backstage, RAW GM Brad Maddox informs Triple H and Stephanie that Big Show had refused to face Bryan tonight. Stephanie says she will handle it and at the top of the hour, heads to the ring, where she calls out the Big Show. Stephanie acknowledges that Big Show is broke due to not-so-smart investments and that he is in breach of his iron clad contract if he doesn’t perform. Stephanie continued, saying that there is not many place for giants outside the WWE, and also that giants don’t live as long as (normal) people.

REVIEW:

Big Show seems to have another breakdown, reminiscent of last year’s saga with Johnny Laurinaitis. But it does however once again show how powerful the “reign of terror” is, a good way to get it over.

After that, a video played announcing that EDGE WILL RETURN TO RAW NEXT MONDAY FOR ONE WEEK ONLY!

3MB VS. THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS:

A nice tag team match was next up on RAW. Slater talked some trash before the match to Titus, firing up the big man. Titus stomped through Slater and tagged in Darren Young, Slater came back and Slater and Mahal took turns beating down Darren Young, until he got the hot tag on Titus, which inevitably led to the pinfall after Titus slammed Mahal.

WINNER: The Prime Time Players
REVIEW:

PTP continue rolling, it’s possible we may see them in the tag team championship picture very soon. A regular tag-team match, Titus looked impressive nonetheless.

–

Heyman confronted Maddox backstage, and asked him to end his phone-call. Heyman told Maddox that if Punk had have got his hands on Heyman, then Heyman wouldn’t be seen on RAW again. Paul then said that Maddox doesn’t “know what’s best for business”, which brough in Triple H, who said he was impressed with how Heyman has “weasled” his way out of danger in the past. Curtis Axel & Paul Heyman vs. CM Punk was announced for Night of Champions, much to the disarray of Heyman.

CODY RHODES VS. RANDY ORTON:

Cody Rhodes prepares for possibly his last ever match in the WWE. (via WWE.com)

Is this it for Cody Rhodes? That was the question going into the match, that put Cody’s career on-the-line. The he two former members of Legacy, Cody and Orton traded blows to start the bout with Orton getting the upper hand, however Cody came back with a picture-perfect dropkick for a near fall. Orton once again gained the upper hand, clubbing Cody’s chest and dropped him with a back breaker from the top rope leading to a commercial.

After the break and Randy took control of the match, as the WWE performers were shown watching on backstage. Cody began to make a comeback and loud “Randy Savage” chant broke out from Des Moines, as Cody made a come back. Cody was so close to winning, getting a two-count thanks to a beautiful spring missile dropkick. Randy hit the DDT from the second rope, and went for the RKO, but Cody countered and hit Randy with the disaster kick which evented in a near-fall, which so many thought that was it. Cody missed a Disaster kick, and Orton delivered an RKO to pick up the victory after 13 minutes.

HHH comes out and tells everyone to give it up for Cody Rhodes. Hunter says that Cody went all in and fought like his life was on the line. He fought with heart. Hunter tells Cody from the bottom of his heart how much he respects Cody. This is a business and in business, he needs winners so he cannot let personal feelings cloud his judgement.
The Game eventually informs Cody that it is with deep regret that he has to tell Cody that he is fired. The crowd go quiet for a moment as Cody looks lost in the middle of the ring, and then start chanting “Thank You Cody!” as he left the ring.

WINNER: Randy Orton

REVIEW:

An excellent match that was not only technically sound, but really got the crowd engaged due to the storyline factor of Cody being fired and questions about his future. This kept everyone interested to see the outcome. There are many questions coming from this match: Is Cody really done? What happens with the Sandow feud? Is Cody actually leaving the WWE? We’ll have to wait and see.

Is this the last ever time, we will ever see Cody Rhodes? (via WWE.com)

CM PUNK CALLS OUT PAUL HEYMAN:

Top of the third hour, Punk made his way out with a kendo stick in his hand to extremely loud “CM Punk” chant by the Iowa crowd. Punk said he kept his promises, but that the time for talk is over. Punk asked the fans if they saw what happened to him last Monday. Punk wants to talk to everyone in the building and his friends and family in Chicago. Everyone who bought his T-Shirt or made a sign to support him. CM Punk said he wanted to fight Paul Heyman, and Punk said he will get his hands on Heyman and Axel in 13 days at the PPV.

He also said even he wouldn’t fight himself right now because of the state of mind he is in.
Punk wanted to say something to all the fans around the globe, but was cut off by the loud “CM Punk” chants. He said the fans will see a side of Punk they had never seen before. He said the fans might not like that side of Punk, and said Heyman certainly won’t. He said last week, Heyman told Punk he broke his heart, but at Night of Champions, Punk said he’ll break Heyman’s face. And then said “I Promise”.

REVIEW:

An outstanding and intense promo by CM Punk, with fantastic mic skills as usual, further adding fuel to the fire of the rivalry between himself and Paul Heyman.

Backstage, Big Show confronted Bryan and said he had no other option. Bryan said he will take care of Show tonight, like he defeated him to win his first World title.

BRIE BELLA VS. NATALYA VS. NAOMI:

Before the match there was the video replay of AJ’s comments about the other divas from last week. AJ Lee was on commentary at ringside with Cole, JBL & Lawler and said that she believes that the other divas are interested in going into movies and the celebrity spotlight, but she only cares about wrestling, and the Divas Championship.

Natalya dominated the match, and then AJ Lee got so boiled over at ringside that she interfered in the match causing a No Contest, she attacked the competitors but they outnumbered her and beat her down, leaving her lying in the ring.

REVIEW:

A very short match, AJ on commentary was a nice touch as it helped to add to the storyline.

DAMIEN SANDOW VS. ROB VAN DAM:

Ricardo is introduced, and then introduces ‘One of a Kind’, Rob van Dam to the ring, to take on the intellectual saviour of the masses and Mr. Money in the Bank, Damien Sandow.

RVD and Sandow exchanged blows to start things off, and Sandow got a near fall. RVD tried to build some momentum but Sandow consistently cut him off. RVD eventually control of the match, but was distracted by Alberto Del Rio on the stage as WWE went into commercial break.

Back from the break, and Sandow was in control. RVD hit a heel kick but was quickly halted, as Sandow dropped  Rob with a side Russian leg sweep and the Elbow of Disdain for a near count. Sandow then delivered a beautiful swinging neckbreaker for another 2 count. RVD hit a superkick followed by the rolling thunder, followed by the 5-star frogsplash.

WINNER: Rob van Dam

REVIEW:

RVD had to be featured on the show as he’s the number one contender to the world title, and he picks up yet another victory to continue building momentum on his way to Night of Champions. Will RVD win the World title? Ricardo’s presence might swing things in RVD’s favour come 15th September. Stay tuned.

Stephanie makes a fatal four way at the Night of Champions PPV between Naomi, Natalya, Brie and AJ for the WWE Divas championship.

Backstage, Josh interviews Cody Rhodes while he is being escorted out of the building. Cody says that the McMahons hated the Rhodes, with Vince putting his legendary father in Polka Dots and dance, while his brother was painted with gold. Cody said Orton was the better man on the night.

DANIEL BRYAN VS. THE BIG SHOW:

The WWE superstars were once again made to watch near the entrance area.

Bryan made his entrance first to loud “YES!” chants, and Big Show made his way out next. Big Show tried to explain that he didn’t want to hurt Bryan and requested Bryan to leave the ring, but Daniel kept attacking Show. Show came back with a big boot and huge chops. Show tried to calm Bryan down, but Bryan kept attacking Show. Bryan delivered brutal kicks to Show’s torso and dropped him with a DDT for a near fall. Bryan went for a cross body, but Show dropped him with a spear. Big Show tried to leave, but that brought out Triple H and The Shield.

Show told Triple H that he wouldn’t fight Bryan, which led to The Shield attacking Bryan to cause the DQ. Show was made to stand and watch as The Shield delivered the triple powerbomb to Bryan. The Game, Triple H, then wanted Show to punch Bryan, but Show refused and walked away. Stephanie then came out and led Show back into the ring. Show was then forced to knock Bryan out with the punch, and was escorted to the top of the ramp by Stephanie and Triple H.

Orton made his way down to the ring and ended the night by standing over a lifeless Bryan, as Show looked on from the ramp.

WINNER: Daniel Bryan (via DQ)

REVIEW:

A kind of messy segment, but the message was put across and further solidified the authority and pure power that the corporation have on the WWE Universe.

RESULTS:

  • The Miz def. Fandango (via Submission)
  • Ryback def. Dolph Ziggler
  • The Prime Time Players def. 3MB (Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal)
  • Randy Orton def. Cody Rhodes
  • Brie Bella vs. Natalya vs. Naomi (No Contest)
  • Rob Van Dam def. Damien Sandow
  • Daniel Bryan def. Big Show (via DQ)

OVERALL SHOW REVIEW:

A lacklustre edition of RAW. Not much wrestling involved as 3 matches had no ending. There were some gems such as the Cody Rhodes storyline and the CM Punk-Heyman rivalry was intense, but overall it was pretty much the same as last week regarding the corporation and the authority of the McMahons, The Shield & Randy Orton.

PHOENIX Daniel Bryan was a victim of justice following a gauntlet match against The Shield as Triple H ordered vindication on the #1 contender for the WWE Championship.

TRIPLE H OPENS THE SHOW:

The Shield were once again standing in as security with the arrival of WWE’s Chief Operating Officer Triple H.

The Cerebral Assassin discussed further on the matter regarding Daniel Bryan and Triple H and once again was the recipient of much heat from the crowd in Phoenix. Then he introduced the WWE Champion Randy Orton, followed by revealing a brand new car for The Viper, paid out from his own pockets – how nice of him.

Moments before Randy Orton would check out the car, Daniel Bryan made a timely arrival with the crowd erupting in a YES! YES! YES! frenzy. The former WWE Champion would have some fitting words for both men, with him contrasting Triple H’s change from a rebel in a leather jacket to… well, a sellout in an executive suit – what a journey…

Triple H would respond with a fantastic booking. It was an attempt to make Daniel Bryan a victim of ‘Justice’ as he would run the gauntlet against the three members of The Shield – some superb wrestling scheduled for the night, then.

Review: Mixed segment to start the show but it set the stage really well for the night. Triple H may have got spectators restless early on, but with Randy Orton being introduced things got better. The Porsche is pretty cool, I guess – but maybe it is some next level advertising. Anyway, with Daniel Bryan facing The Shield later that night, the WWE Universe were pumped up. Incredible potential for the main event.

Triple H has a gift for the WWE Champion and it’s #1 Contender. A stunning car is now in The Viper’s possession. But for Daniel Bryan, his gift may come at a much bigger price… not to Triple H – but to himself. Daniel Bryan receives the gift of Justice in a gauntlet match against The Shield. Would Daniel Bryan be The Shield’s next victim?

A WWE App vote is revealed for Curtis Axel vs. CM Punk. Viewers are asked to vote for three options. Paul Heyman as referee, Paul Heyman banned for ringside, or if CM Punk wins, Paul Heyman will have to step in the ring with him. Here is Heyman’s reaction… via TOUT.

CODY RHODES VS. FANDANGO:

Money in the Bank holder Damien Sandow looked on from ringside as Cody Rhodes battled Fandango in Single’s Competition. However, a few interferences later lead to an impromptu tag team match.

Cody Rhodes and Fandango’s match was cut short, as Fandango was distracted when his music went off around the arena. It became apparent that The Miz in fact would mimic Fandango distracting him thus allowing Cody Rhodes to get the roll-up pin and win.

This would however lead to Damien Sandow teaming up with Fandango to battle Cody Rhodes and The Miz in a tag team match.

CODY RHODES & THE MIZ VS. FANDANGO AND DAMIEN SANDOW:

More comical action was in store during this bout, but yet again it would not have the best of finishes. With the two rivalries momentarily intertwined in the tag team match, it ended with a demonstration of poor tag team work. Fandango fled the ring leaving Damien Sandow to fight for himself. Alone and vulnerable, Damien Sandow would get pinned by The Miz.

Review: AWESOME? I think not. It seems like Damien Sandow’s Money in the Bank attribution has become a Golden ticket for him to… job. I know that his redemption is lurking, but it just pains me to see Sandow continue to decline. Two matches were in the duration of the segment, with the occurrence of little significance. Efficient storyline booking can be credited, as this leads to inevitable showdowns to end the rivalry. Miz and Rhodes effectively won the match, taking into account that The Miz pinned Damien Sandow, and Cody Rhodes pinned Fandango earlier on.

The Miz pins Damien Sandow whilst looking on at Fandango from the stage (via WWE.com)
Cody Rhodes and The Miz prevail over their foes… but this is just a little of many more things to come in the already storied rivalry. Has Cody Rhodes got Damien Sandow in dire straits? And will The Miz take the spring out of Fandango’s step?

CURTIS AXEL VS. CM PUNK:

It was a very pivotal stipulation, voted courtesy of the WWE Universe, that added an extra buzz as Curtis Axel stepped inside the squared circle to battle CM Punk.

Paul Heyman’s very livelihood was on the line, because if CM Punk was to win, he would get Paul Heyman in the ring promptly after. Following several minutes of great action between two superb wrestlers, CM Punk was finally able to hit the GTS pinning Curtis Axel – cue Paul Heyman’s priceless facial expression, with the knowledge that he would have to face CM Punk.

The Mad Scientist attempted to flee the arena but security would refrain him from doing so, sending him back inside the ring.

It would seem that the night would finally be the night where CM Punk would get his hands on Paul Heyman, but once again he would be saved by Curtis Axel. Curtis Axel managed to put handcuffs on CM Punk, which would be the start of some lethal and savage punishment to the Straight-Edge Savior. Despite one great flurry of offense by CM Punk, Axel utilized the Steel Chair to put CM Punk in a situation where he was unable to fight back. This allowed Paul Heyman to unleash a beating on The Best in the World, with viscous attacks from the Kendo Stick while shouting at CM Punk creating a rather dramatic situation that left Heyman emotional… and Punk battered.

Review: Really awesome segment. I honestly don’t see why the crowd at the US Airways Center chanted “BORING”, because this told the story so well and made things real serious. The best thing is that the CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman feud is far from over.

CM Punk managed to overthrow Curtis Axel, but the opportunity to finally punish Paul Heyman was suddenly thwarted following a viscous attack leaving The Best in the World in a really bad way. How will CM Punk get his revenge?

CM Punk thought he had Paul Heyman one-on-one, but this would not be the case (via WWE.com)

BRIE BELLA VS. NATALYA

It was a SummerSlam rematch as Divas Natalya and Brie Bella went one-on-one with the Total Divas’ cast accompanying ringside and new Diva JoJo Offerman being the guest ring announcer for the bout.

Natalya once again proved herself as a great wrestling veteran, as she took to Brie Bella in the ring. She was closing in on another victory over Brie Bella when she locked in the Sharpshooter, but Nikki Bella and Eva Marie thwarted this abruptly, distracting the referee and allowing Brie Bella to get to the ropes.

The opportunity was then capitalized on, as Brie Bella finished Natalya, pinning her for the victory. However the celebration would be cut short by the Divas’ Champion AJ Lee, who did drop one hell of a pipebomb on the Total Divas’ cast.

AJ Lee said that the Total Divas’ cast reverted to reality television because they were not good enough to be actors. It was one statement part of a well-executed promo that sent shock-waves through the Divas’ Divison.

Review: The match itself was pretty boring, and I wonder what direction WWE are really heading in with JoJo. Anyway, AJ Lee nailed the promo and completely owned the Total Divas’ cast. Even if it was just to promote Total Divas’ it was fantastic. This must set up for AJ Lee vs. a Total Divas’ cast member at Night of Champions, maybe a Triple Threat match is on the cards with Brie Bella, Natalya and AJ. We will have to wait and see.

Brie Bella may have defeated Natalya. But no-one expected such a shocker when AJ Lee dropped a serious pipebomb on the Total Divas’ cast. Is the Crazy Chick set to defend her title against one of the reality show’s cast members?

ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. ROB VAN DAM:

World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio took to the ring in an attempt to defeat Rob Van Dam, meanwhile there were high stakes for RVD as he fought for #1 Contendership for the title.

Ricardo Rodriguez continued to support his new client Rob Van Dam as he maintained control of the Mexican Aristocrat, and following some nailed kicks, high flying moves as part of an engaging slugfest, a distraction from Rodriguez allowed Rob Van Dam to pick up the victory and secured a World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Night of Champions.

Review: When this match was first announced I was questioning it, but now with Rob Van Dam as #1 Contender they are on a crash course for the World Heavyweight Championship. Good match with two great kick artists.

Rob Van Dam’s victory over Alberto Del Rio now sets him a World Heavyweight Championship shot at WWE Night of Champions. Is Rob Van Dam set to be the next World Heavyweight Champion?

Rob Van Dam’s win makes him the #1 contender for the World Championship (via WWE.com)

RANDY ORTON VS. CHRISTIAN

The WWE Champion Randy Orton renewed a storied rivalry with Christian in an epic encounter on RAW.

There was some fantastic action throughout the contest, with Christian throwing some of his best shots at The Viper. Knowledge of each other in the ring was on full display with both being familiar with one another’s moveset. Christian was inches away from securing a pivotal victory over the WWE Champion, but with the referee’s back turned, Randy Orton raked Christian’s eyes leaving Captain Charisma dazed.

Christian walked around and straight into a lethal RKO by Randy Orton, a move that got him the win to culminate an excellent encounter.

But as Orton embraced his victory, Daniel Bryan appeared on the large screen next to Randy Orton’s car that he received earlier in the night. The former WWE Champion revealed YES! spray paint all over the car, leaving Orton and Triple H distraught. Following a commercial break Triple H was not happy, and ordered Brad Maddox to get all the superstars who found the car spray painting a joke to head to the stage when Daniel Bryan battled in the main event.

Review: Wow. Great, great match. Christian continues to show his great talent and Randy Orton’s win is huge but the rake to the eyes gives Christian some leeway. Daniel Bryan spraying YES! all over the car was a classic.

The Viper knocks off Christian in a compelling encounter, but for his car, it has went from a Caddilac Escalade to a YEScalade… How will Randy Orton and Triple H get vindication for this mad act?

JACK SWAGGER VS. TITUS O’NEIL

The Prime Time Players took to the ring, followed by The Real Americans making an entrance as Jack Swagger battled Titus O’Neil in a battle of brutality and power.

Two big guys battled in a very entertaining match, ultimately it saw Titus O’Neil pick up the win, as The Real Americans continue to decline.

Review: And so… the Real Americans/Prime Time Player saga continues, with the imminent outcome of The Prime Time Players prevailing. This push has made me question the actual point of the Real Americans, they are a tag team going to waste unfortunately, and this bugs me.. a lot.

Once again The Prime Time Players are victorious. With the “We The People” campaign now declining, are the Prime Time Players open for a revitalized challenge?

The Real Americans suffer yet another loss (via WWE.com)

Brad Maddox gets CM Punk backstage and announces that he will be in a Handicap match at the next WWE PPV, Night of Champions against Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel. Plus, if Paul Heyman tries to escape, he will never be seen in WWE again.

DANIEL BRYAN VS. THE SHIELD
(GAUNTLET MATCH):

It was time for the main event. The WWE superstars on the stage were reluctant to answer questions in fear of being punished in the same manner. Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan kicked things off.

VS. SETH ROLLINS

Wrestling fans got what they wanted. A high-pace, technical wrestling showcase that was just fantastic to watch. Following several minutes of superb action, Daniel Bryan executed an awesome German Suplex from the top rope, sending Seth Rollins crashing face first to the canvas. This was followed up by a knee to the head allowing Daniel Bryan to score the fall in emphatic fashion.

VS. DEAN AMBROSE

Dean Ambrose quickly got into the ring immediately attacking Daniel Bryan, but he quickly found himself locked in the YES! Lock. Roman Reigns had his back and broke it up, but this got Dean Ambrose disqualified, meaning Daniel Byran was one step away… but in his way stood Roman Reigns.

VS. ROMAN REIGNS

Then Roman Reigns found himself battling the YES! Lock but his fellow Shield members attacked Daniel Bryan too. The superstars looked on, unable to make a move, with frustration building.

Daniel Bryan may have won the gauntlet effectively, but he was subject to a vicious attack from The Shield, followed by an RKO as a bold statement was made once again by the Corporation.

Review: Just amazing in-ring work between Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins – absolutely superb action that was fantastic to watch. Shame that we did not get more Ambrose/Bryan action but I guess they are saving it for another day. The ending was so well done, with the superstars unable to do anything, great, great stuff.

RESULTS:

  • Cody Rhodes def. Fandango
  • Cody Rhodes & The Miz def. Damien Sandow & Fandango
  • CM Punk def. Curtis Axel
  • CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel – No Contest
  • Brie Bella def. Natalya
  • Rob Van Dam def. Alberto Del Rio (New #1 Contender)
  • Randy Orton def. Christian
  • Titus O’Neil def. Jack Swagger
  • Daniel Bryan def. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose (via DQ) and Roman Reigns (via DQ) (Gauntlet Match)

OVERALL SHOW REVIEW
Solid edition of RAW. Superb wrestling in the ring especially with Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins, plus the great encounter between Christian and Randy Orton. A lot of seriousness in the show that has shown how things have really stepped up, the Heyman segment is one to remember, along with the superstars being helpless to Daniel Bryan. Great episode.
SHOW GRADE: B-

Daniel Bryan once again falls victim to the “Gift that keeps on giving” as Triple H’s vindication is sought by The Hounds of Justice. Things take shape heading into WWE Night of Champions with the WWE Universe expectant of more to come after a solid show.

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW: The Shield Bring Justice for the McMahons, CM Punk Wants to Fight

Episode 1056 – Monday 19 August, 2013
 Honda Center, Anaheim, CA.

By Nisar Khan

ANAHEIM – Daniel Bryan was the unfortunate recipient of the ‘Justice’ after The Shield attacked him during Randy Orton’s WWE Championship Coronation in the SummerSlam fallout LIVE on RAW.

CENA MAKES ANNOUNCEMENT, DANIEL BRYAN EJECTED BY SECURITY

John Cena opened the show in Anaheim, California where he addressed the lively WWE Universe present at the Honda Center. After announcing that he will be taking a hiatus from the WWE for 4 – 6 months due to elbow surgery, he introduced Daniel Bryan, in respect for their epic encounter the previous night at SummerSlam.

Daniel Bryan was unable to get a word in because he was interrupted by Stephanie McMahon – of who’s husband Triple H attacked Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam. Stephanie insulted Daniel Bryan discussing that he may not deserve to be Champion, before justifying Triple H’s actions saying that they were “…best for business.

The previous WWE Champion was not happy at all, and he threw the microphone out of Stephanie McMahon’s hand. This would evoke her to call security to eject Daniel Bryan from the building, claiming that she will “…not be intimated by any WWE superstar.

Review: John Cena will be out of action for around half a year, so another superstar will be fully fledged into the spotlight from now on. Even if you dislike John Cena, there’s no doubt that he does need a break, not only the surgery but he has been working for a long time. Stephanie McMahon seemed to bore me at times when she was speaking, but as it progressed it seemed a good start to the show, setting up for what Daniel Bryan will do next.

Daniel Bryan left calmly with security for the time being, but would Daniel Bryan settle for this outcome throughout the night?

Daniel Bryan is not in the best of moods having lost his WWE Championship (via WWE.com)

CODY RHODES VS. DAMIEN SANDOW

In a rematch from SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow battled in another great singles match.

There was more entertaining action between Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow of who demonstrated great chemistry in the ring. Cody Rhodes picked up another win when he got the roll-up pin.

Review: Another great match, it’s great to have Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes putting on great contests. The future could hold a match for the briefcase, but Sandow’s turmoil should eventually end.

Cody Rhodes makes it two consecutive victories over Damien Sandow. Will the briefcase be thrown amongst this saga?

CM PUNK HAS SOME WORDS FOR HEYMAN

After being ringside to watch his client Brock Lesnar defeat his former friend in an incredible war, Paul Heyman went to the ring and asked to reconcile with CM Punk.

Review: I guess this segment was used just to get the weeks by until we hear from CM Punk or Brock Lesnar. Obviously it is highly unlikely that CM Punk will once again align with Heyman, but it is interesting to see how things unfold next.

The ‘Mad Scientist’ described the Brock Lesnar and CM Punk situation as a metaphorical family affair, with himself as the father and Brock Lesnar as the older brother. Paul Heyman seemed serious in his request, how will CM Punk respond?

Paul Heyman told CM Punk that he will guide him back to the WWE Title (via WWE.com)

THE FUNKADACTYLS VS. AJ LEE & LAYLA

Total Divas’ stars the Funkadactyls faced the newly formed team of AJ Lee and Layla in tag-team Divas action.

The match was quite quick but ended in disarray for AJ Lee & Layla, after Layla was pinned from a roll-up when she was distracted. Just another Total Divas plug…

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. THE SHIELD
(3-ON-1 HANDICAP MATCH)

The Show-Off Dolph Ziggler had the odds stacked against him as he faced The Shield in a handicap match – made by General Manager Brad Maddox after Ziggler’s comments on Triple H’s actions at SummerSlam.

Dolph Ziggler managed to hold his own for quite a while, engaging in great wrestling action with Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose. But Ziggler would soon find himself isolated by Reigns and the other members as they beat down on Ziggler. Out of nowhere, he nailed Reigns with a drop-kick and a great DDT, but the numbers game would prove too much and Ziggler was distracted before turning around into a HUGE spear, followed by a powerbomb to finish the job.

Review: Great opportunity to watch Dolph Ziggler match up with talents like The Shield. We saw great action that pleased ‘wrestling’ fans. This reinforces The Shield’s danger factor which is a good thing, and Ziggler sold that spear so well! Great to watch.

Dolph Ziggler is dismantled by The Shield but he managed to hold up for a while. The Hounds of Justice strike again, but is this the end of the punishment for Ziggler?

The Hounds of Justice brought justice to Ziggler (via WWE.com)

ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. SIN CARA

World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio stepped into the ring with the high-flying Sin Cara, but the match would be short-lived.

Sin Cara managed to get some offense stringed together after Del Rio unloaded a series of punches, before Del Rio fled. Sin Cara pursued by jumping over the ropes to Del Rio, but he injured his wrist in the process and signaled to the medic.

Del Rio attempted to pursue Sin Cara but the referee refrained him, Alberto Del Rio then talked about his win the previous night before a timely interruption from Ricardo Rodriguez – the man who Del Rio attacked a few weeks ago.

Rodriguez then announced that he was representing a different wrestler, Rob Van Dam. Van Dam entered and went straight for the World Champion, but Del Rio managed to flee.

Review: How many times have we seen Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara? One of the worst matches ever. This time we did not see the same generic stuff due to Sin Cara’s injury – kayfabe or real, most probably kayfabe since Del Rio attempted to attack him. I did not expect Rob Van Dam to join forces with Rodriguez but Rob Van Dam is probably pursuing the titel next?

Rob Van Dam gets the better of Alberto Del Rio on RAW, is he to pursue the World Heavyweight Championship next?

Rob Van Dam has now aligned with Ricardo Rodriguez (via WWE.com)

THE REAL AMERICANS VS. THE PRIME TIME PLAYERS

Zeb Colter delivered a promo prior to The Real American’s match as they engaged in Tag Team action with the Prime Time Players.

It was a strong performance by both teams, with Titus O’Neil exemplifying his raw power, meanwhile the Real Americans had a strong showing also, especially their best move when Cesaro leap-frogged Swagger to land double-feet on Titus O’Neil’s gut.

Darren Young was tagged in with a heap of momentum and he hit Cesaro with a Gut-Buster to give Prime Time Players the win.

Review: Strong tag-team match. These are two promising tag-teams who put on a great performance, and a big win for the Prime Time Players who’s persona changes over the week.

The Prime Time Players knock off The Real Americans? What is next for this tag team?

Prime Time Players have been together for over a year but are yet to win Gold (via WWE.com)

THE BIG SHOW VS. THE SHIELD
(3-ON-1 HANDICAP MATCH)

Brad Maddox chased down The Big Show next, and he booked Big Show in a handicap match with The Shield, of where they will all be in the ring at the same time.

Big Show surprisingly dealt well with the numbers game, quickly eliminating the powerhouse factor by throwing Roman Reigns over the top rope, then dealing with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Reigns was absent following a spear by Big Show until the end of the match, as Big Show continued to beat Rollins and Ambrose. But then they managed to outwit The Big Show by running in the ring then out, catching Big Show off guard then setting up Roman Reigns to Spear The Big Show.

Big Show’s first match back in the WWE was marked with a loss (via WWE.com)

The Shield marked their act of justice with a Triple Powerbomb, before pinning The Big Show. Yet another superstar pays for his comments towards Triple H.

Review: Great theme going a long with the Hounds of Justice and them making the superstars pay for their comments. Good to see The Big Show in great shape and The Shield redeeming themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

The Shield make The Big Show their next victim. Is this Triple H and Brad Maddox’s way of justice?

CM PUNK WANTS TO “FIGHT”

After being defeated by Brock Lesnar in the incredible Best vs. Beast showdown at SummerSlam, CM Punk was not in a good mood and he wanted to fight.

The Straight Edge Savior called out a fan ringside who was booing CM Punk, and was fired up. Then he spoke about Heyman’s request, and he looked like he would apologize, but in fact he did not, he vowed to get his hands on Paul Heyman one day. Then, Paul Heyman told Curtis Axel to wrap his hands and fight.

Following the commercial break, Curtis Axel came down to the ring and CM Punk attacked him promptly, followed by using the chair. But CM Punk’s injuries sustained during the SummerSlam match would open an advantage for Curtis Axel to take control, using the chair on his back. Curtis Axel could have very well broken CM Punk’s leg with the chair, but The Best in the World was able to move out of the way and hit Axel with the chair, before a GTS on to the steps.

Review: Awesome promo by CM Punk, he was just so fired up. There is some serious business going ahead for Heyman and Punk. It would be interesting to hear the thoughts of the fan that Punk called out. This could lead up to Punk vs. Axel at the next PPV.

CM Punk gets a fight with Curtis Axel, but how far will he go to get his hands on Paul Heyman?

BRAY WYATT VS. R-TRUTH

Bray Wyatt made his debut on Monday Night RAW when he faced the very unique R-Truth.

R-Truth’s unorthodox offense gave him an early advantage, but Bray Wyatt managed to easily combat it before finishing R-Truth with the “Sister Abigail”.

Bray Wyatt quickly defeats R-Truth. But what have the Wyatt Family done with Kane?

This is R-Truth’s second run-in with the Wyatt Family (via WWE.com)

THE USOs VS. JINDER MAHAL & HEATH SLATER

There was more tag team action on RAW as 3MB’s Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater battled The Usos.

The 3MB put up a decent performance, but the victory for The Usos was closed in on when Jey Uso hit Jinder Mahal with a Super-Kick, followed by jumping over the top rope onto Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre – while tagging in his twin brother in the process to finish with a Samoan Splash. Nice victory.

THE MIZ VS. WADE BARRETT

It was a WrestleMania 29 rematch as Wade Barrett battled the SummerSlam host The Miz.

After The Miz took some action to Barrett and vice versa, Miz was down on the canvas when Fandango came out of nowhere and delivered a leg-drop to The Miz followed by an attack.

How will The Miz react to this attack?

RANDY ORTON’S CHAMPIONSHIP CORONATION

The whole WWE roster was looking on from the stage as Triple H introduced Randy Orton’s WWE Championship celebration.

The Shield were ringside security as Triple H justified his actions saying it was for the future of WWE and that he put his personal feud with Orton aside for WWE’s better future. Then he introduced WWE Champion Randy Orton.

Triple H taunts Daniel Bryan to get in the ring (via WWE.com)

Randy Orton thanked Triple H for the opportunity, and ordered everyone in the arena to do so. Then Triple H asked Daniel Bryan to enter, getting the arena to welcome him chanting YES! YES! YES! and they played his music as Bryan entered from around the stage.

Just as Bryan made his way to the ring, The Shield attacked him and they were about to Powerbomb him until Triple H asked The Shield to let him get in the ring, when he did, he received a lethal RKO.

Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton previously fought a few months ago (via WWE.com)

Review: It had me excited throughout the night although it was not as good as expected. It had the good feel of a big heel force back in the WWE, which is awesome. Although there was not much answered, this really just carried forward to next week.

WWE Champion Randy Orton makes his statement as WWE Champion with a vicious RKO to Daniel Bryan. With The Viper now flanked by the McMahons also, is Randy Orton’s era of dominance in for the long run?

RESULTS

  • Cody Rhodes def. Damien Sandow
  • The Funkadactyls def. AJ Lee & Layla
  • The Shield def. Dolph Ziggler (Handicap match)
  • Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara – No Contest
  • Prime Time Players def. Real Americans
  • The Big Show def. The Shield (Handicap match)
  • Bray Wyatt def. R-Truth
  • The Usos def. Jinder Mahal & Heath Slater
  • The Miz vs. Wade Barrett – No Contest

OVERALL SHOW REVIEW

Quite a disappointing RAW tonight, considering it was after SummerSlam, it was lackluster at times but the ending may have made up for it. Good recurring theme with The Shield bringing justice to the McMahons, and CM Punk’s segment was great too. Some decent matches in a RAW that was good but disappointing as it should have been better for a post-SummerSlam show.

Randy Orton and the McMahons have brought a dark era into the WWE. Meanwhile, CM Punk has an undying quest to get his hands on Paul Heyman. The night after SummerSlam and the new era in WWE has begun.

WWE Monday Night RAW – August 12, 2013 (Episode 1,055): CM Punk Sends a Deep Message, Cena and Bryan in Personal Promo Ahead of SummerSlam

Battle Royal chaos; John Cena and Daniel Bryan get personal in compelling promo on Miz TV; Kane prevails in mind games with the Wyatt Family; Triple H announced as Guest Referee for SummerSlam WWE title match; CM Punk takes out Heyman’s guys… and much more LIVE from Sacramento, in the final RAW before SummerSlam!

CM Punk gets his revenge on Brock Lesnar, but would he get his hands on Heyman? (Image Courtesy: WWE.com)

Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett
RAW kicked off thick into the action with the arrival of Daniel Bryan. The #1 Contender battled in Singles Competition in front of a vibrant crowd in Sacramento.
This was a rematch from SmackDown of where Daniel Bryan prevailed, and it looked like the result would be no different this time. However, after Daniel Bryan’s flurry of offence, Barrett managed to momentarily gain an advantage followed by getting a roll-up pin on Daniel Bryan, of course aided by the very quick count by Guest Referee, the GM of RAW – Brad Maddox.
Review: It felt like quite an odd start to RAW, with a rematch that seemed quite repetitive although entertaining – as any match with Daniel Bryan in. Predictable finish, but this left Daniel Bryan in a bad mood heading into Miz TV later in the night.
Daniel Bryan was not happy with his win, and it was a good job that Brad Maddox fled the ring, or the #1 contender’s rage would go out of control. What would be the consequences for Brad Maddox after this biased refereeing?
Daniel Bryan furious at Brad Maddox following the match. (Image Courtesy: WWE.com)

Randy Orton vs. Damien Sandow

It was a clash of the Money in the Bank holders as Damien Sandow battled Randy Orton in a rematch from the 4th August Edition of SmackDown.

Aggression was clear in the mentality of Sandow, with his new briefcase included while Cody Rhodes watched the action ringside on commentary. He aggressively attacked Randy Orton before it developed into a back-and-forth match.

Of course Sandow’s demise would come when he was strongest, after outwitting Randy Orton by fleeing to the outside and catching him off guard, he took the advantage, only until he got distracted by Cody Rhodes who looked on at ringside.

Out of nowhere, The Viper would strike, sealing another victory.

Review: While another rematch does not sound particularly enticing back-to-back starting RAW, it was an enjoyable contest. Randy Orton shows his strength again with another win meanwhile Rhodes goes to SummerSlam with the one-up.

Cody Rhodes frustrates Damien Sandow, distracting him allowing The Viper to strike and Sandow picks up the loss going into SummerSlam. How will the loss affect Damien Sandow at SummerSlam?

Randy Orton hits the RKO out of nowhere. (Image Courtesy: WWE.com)

AJ Lee and Big E Langston vs. Natalya and The Great Khali
Just six days before their mixed tag team match, Big E and AJ Lee battled Natalya and Great Khali in what was a comical matchup.

Natalya took some offense to AJ Lee but eventually the Diva’s Champion took control in the corner. However, following the distraction by Hornswoggle, Natalya was able to lock in the Sharpshooter and win.

Review: The purpose of this match is well… nothing. It is hard to understand why Big E and AJ Lee are made to look so weak by losing to this joke team. Ahead of SummerSlam this could be damaging.

The referee botched the finish, but it took two Sharpshooters and two tap outs by AJ Lee for Natalya and Khali to be declared winners before Great Khali fought off Langston leaving him baffled along with the WWE Universe. Are Big E and AJ really ready for SummerSlam?

Vince McMahon calls out RAW General Manager, Triple H makes a timely appearance
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came out and he ordered the presence of Brad Maddox.

The Chairman quickly got into the discussion as to why Brad Maddox delivered a fast count, and following an uneasy justification by Maddox, Vince surprisingly accepted.

Vince McMahon was on the brink of making the announcement that Brad Maddox would be the Special Referee for the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam but Triple H stopped the matter from escalating, further enforcing the statement with a Pedigree to Maddox.

Review: Triple H as the Special Referee for SummerSlam gives the combustible elements needed for a controversial end, while it may not be liked by others, this could allow controversy to really escalate.

Triple H will referee the SummerSlam WWE Championship showdown between Daniel Bryan and John Cena. Will this ultimately stop McMahon’s plan to not let Bryan hold the Gold?

Triple H sets up Brad Maddox for the Pedigree. (Image Courtesy: WWE.com)

Kane vs. Titus O’Neil
Kane made his way to the ring to battle the physical Titus O’Neil with his tag partner Darren Young accompanying him ringside.

The Big Red Monster was not in the mood for any nonsense, and he got straight to work on Titus O’Neil in a strong performance finished by a Chokeslam.

But then the Wyatt Family made their way to the ring.

Many were expectant of another beat down to Kane, but when the lights were back on, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan found themselves in the ring without Kane, only to see him standing at the top of the ramp.

Review: Strong performance by Kane against Titus O’Neil, then the Wyatt Family arrival and Kane playing mind games was awesome. SummerSlam’s Ring of Fire is going to be a huge encounter.

Kane prevails this time round with the mind games. But will Kane prevail again at SummerSlam’s ‘Ring of Fire’?

Alberto Del Rio vs. Kofi Kingston
Athletic competitors Kofi Kingston and Alberto Del Rio took to the squared circle for Singles Competition.

Kofi Kingston looked strong throughout the duration of the contest, but after a back-and-forth contest, an amazing counter to a Springboard had Kofi dazed and he fell victim to the Lethal Cross-Arm Breaker. In the centre of the ring, he had no other choice but to tap out.

Review: Good contest that makes both guys look strong. A win for Del Rio is important going into SummerSlam, of course. The crowd booing however makes the quality of the match demise.

The World Heavyweight Champion managed to ground Captain of the Boom Squad, Kofi Kingston. But how will he fare against Captain Charisma, Christian at SummerSlam?

The Usos vs. Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro
Two of WWE’s best tag teams put on another great showcase on RAW with the Real Americans and The Usos.

Swagger and Cesaro were quick out of the blocks utilising their tag team corner to isolate Jey Uso. During that spell, Cesaro hit a brutal uppercut.

When The Usos got momentum going, they took Cesaro and Swagger out by flying over the top ropes, while also seeing off Zeb Colter to get the roll-up pin.

Review: Yet another awesome match featuring two of the best current tag teams. All are promising athletes and they put on an entertaining match. Interesting future lies ahead in the tag team division.

The Usos knock off the Real Americans in an enthralling match. Will they be next to try and topple The Shield this time round?

Miz TV with Daniel Bryan and John Cena
The Miz hosted his own talk show this time featuring the two combatants for the WWE Championship SummerSlam showdown.

The Miz only had a small bit of the talking before it went down to a deep and compelling promo between John Cena and Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan called John Cena a “parody of wrestling” and after numerous insults that had the crowd on edge, Daniel Bryan said Cena is not a wrestler. John Cena then slapped Daniel Bryan. Just as it looked like a fight would transpire, Special Referee Triple H made an appearance to calm things down.

Then as a stealthy reminder, The Viper Randy Orton looked on from the stage.

Review: Epic promo between Daniel Bryan and John Cena that has SummerSlam set up so well. Randy Orton coming out too makes things more awesome with the combustible elements to go at SummerSlam. Lot of hype.

With SummerSlam all set. Will we have a new Champion? And will The Viper strike?

R-Truth and Fandango dance and brawl
Fandango’s dance entrance was cut short with the vibrant arrival of R-Truth as the two fought in singles competition.

An impromptu dance-off transpired out of nowhere, before a brawl ensued when R-Truth’s dance was cut short. R-Truth prevailed and Fandango fled the ring but not before he got to pronounce his name correctly.

20 Man Battle Royal to determine #1 Contender for US Championship at SummerSlam
Mark Henry, Ryback, Antonio Cesaro, The Great Khali and 16 others stepped into the ring for a Battle Royal of where the winner would challenge Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship at SummerSlam.

Ryback started out ferociously eliminating Justin Gabriel, Darren Young and Tensai in quick succession. The 3MB chipped in with eliminations when they teamed up to get rid of Jey Uso. R-Truth also got another one-up when he eliminated Fandango however R-Truth would be eliminated shortly after. This action was hard to observe, chaos in Sacramento.

Following a commerical break and Titus O Neil’s elimination we were down to the Real Americans, who then eliminated Kofi Kingston and were left with Barrett, Ryback, Rob Van Dam and Mark Henry. Things were really intensifying.

We came down to 4 following an ultimate feat of strength b Mark Henry eliminating both Swagger and Cesaro, before Henry continued the momentum throwing Barrett over the top rope. Mark Henry and Rob Van Dam eliminated Ryback before the final two squared off.

Rob Van Dam found himself dangerously on the apron, but he anticipated Mark Henry to come charging at him, and he pulled down the ring rope so Mark Henry went tumbling out and RVD was crowned the New #1 contender.

Mutual respect between the final two. (Image Courtesy: WWE.com)
Review: AWESOME Battle Royal! Action packed just like Battle Royals should be. Some good excitement for the show and Rob Van Dam vs. Ambrose will be a great match.

Mark Henry entered back into the ring and had mutual respect for Rob Van Dam, but then The Shield appeared, and Henry got back in the ring to help out Rob Van Dam. To further even the odds, The Big Show returned, and The Shield were shocked and retreated. Mark Henry, Rob Van Dam and Big Show stand tall tonight, but will we have a new US Champion at SummerSlam?

CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman
Paul Heyman entered the ring and he talked about the match not even happening, saying that everyone has fallen into a trap, before he introduced Brock Lesnar.

After provoking Punk to be the hero and come out and face Lesnar and Heyman in a handicap, the trap backfired. CM Punk made an entrance, but attacked Brock Lesnar with a camera before a chair, then he set his sights on Paul Heyman.

As he pursued Paul Heyman, he ran into Curtis Axel. Axel was hit by a chair then received a GTS. CM Punk sends a bold message.

Review: Really strong way to finish RAW. Serious promo again and all is hyped for The Best vs. The Beast!

“I am the BEST IN THE WORLD!” shouts CM Punk to Brock Lesnar. Its The Best vs. The Beast at SummerSlam and it will be epic, no doubt.

Overall Show Review: While the first half of RAW was not particularly exciting nor significant, the second half was awesome. Completely hyped for SummerSlam with this, everything was executed well and an awesome go-home show before SummerSlam!

WWE Superstar Sheamus Suffers Injury, Out for 4-6 Months

WWE Superstar Sheamus has been sidelined for six months and will require surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, WWE.com has reported.

Sheamus will be out for six months (via WWE.com)

Sheamus’ injury occurred in the Money in the Bank All-Stars match when he crashed into a ladder ringside, landing heavy on his left leg and shoulder.

In reaction to his injury, Sheamus said:

“I’ve always worked through pain. For the first time in four years, I’m going to be out of action.

“I’m determined to be a champion again, and when I come back I am going to rock this place like it’s never been rocked before!”

It is a rarity for the Celtic Warrior to be out of action for such a long time, but he was deteriorating in form over the past months, expect him to return even better.

THIS WEEK: Brock Lesnar and CM Punk engage in ferocious brawl; Daniel Bryan receives ‘Corporate Makeover’; Randy Orton makes bold statement to Bryan and Cena; The Shield win in Six-Man Tag Team chaos on Main Event;

WWE Monday Night RAW – 5th August 2013 (Episode 1054)

Stephanie McMahon opened the show in Green Bay and she discussed the corporate makeover that Daniel Bryan went through before showing a video package of his makeover.

Daniel Bryan was then introduced, with a beard still in tact, but wearing a suit and his hair slicked back. The crowd were not a fan of the new look as they responded with boos when Daniel Bryan asked them if they liked it. The #1 Contender then went on to mock John Cena saying that his merchandise was useless, and he said he would make John Cena tap out at SummerSlam, until the boss Vince McMahon made an entrance.

Mr McMahon made fun of the new look, and even gave a reference of Daniel Bryan looking like a mini Mick Foley. One last thing however was needed to complete the makeover, and that was to lose the beard.

With the crowd fully vocal chanting NO! NO! NO! a barber chair was sent down to the ring and Daniel Bryan gingerly made his way to the chair, before Wade Barrett was revealed as the barber to shave the beard.

Daniel Bryan would distract Wade Barrett before hitting him and putting him in the barber’s chair. Barrett’s beard was partially shaved off before Bryan attacked Wade Barrett then left to the stage and told Vince McMahon he would remain the same before revealing an awesome “The Beard is Here” shirt in the same format of John Cena’s t-shirt.

Review: Really strong segment to kick off Monday Night RAW, the corporate makeover was highly anticipated by people watching RAW and this had a good ending. Fans get what they want as Daniel Bryan keeps the beard, hopefully Wade Barrett won’t be solely used as a prop but have more meaning. Vince McMahon as a heel is really working. Great start to RAW.

World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio faced Rob Van Dam, and Rob Van Dam was seeking retribution after Alberto Del Rio faked an injury to defeat Rob Van Dam a few weeks ago on SmackDown.

With the returning Ricardo Rodriguez back in his corner, Alberto Del Rio dealt well with Rob Van Dam’s high-flying game although not entirely.  Rob Van Dam’s second attempt of the Rolling Thunder was successful but a moonsault attempt was countered. Ricardo Rodriguez attempted to give Alberto Del Rio the advantage by setting up the bucket in the corner of the ring, but Rob Van Dam threw Del Rio into it and picked up the win.

After the loss, Del Rio was irate and took his frustration out on Ricardo Rodriguez. He attacked him with the bucket then threw him outside of the ring, and kicked his head that was behind the steel steps leaving him in a bad way.

Review: Alberto Del Rio and Rob Van Dam had quite an entertaining and well-matched athletic contest. The win for Rob Van Dam is important although it does not really damage Del Rio’s status. Plus, Del Rio’s attack on Rodriguez showed that he is still danger but the spot when his head was kicked in the steel steps did not really go well.

Cody Rhodes was in the ring and he addressed the situation between himself and Damien Sandow. Rhodes had also brought a box into the ring.

Cody Rhodes revealed the contents of the box and it was a beaten up briefcase of which was thrown into the Gulf of Mexico a few weeks ago. Damien Sandow came out to collect the briefcase and told Cody Rhodes to leave the ring. When Sandow was back in the ring collecting the briefcase Rhodes attacked him off-guard and Sandow retreated. Cody Rhodes opened the briefcase and took out the ruined contract, before the two had a distant staredown.

Damien Sandow vs. Cody Rhodes is OFFICIAL for SummerSlam

Review: The feud between Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes is awesome. This leads to an SummerSlam match and I cannot wait for it. One of the best midcard feuds in years, both men are doing the job perfectly. Another great segment between the two.

Leviathans of Power Ryback and Mark Henry battled in a rematch from WrestleMania 29, but again it would not end smoothly.

The short action consisted of Mark Henry hitting a shoulder block, responded to by a chop block that sended Mark Henry to his knees. The World’s Strongest Slam then went for a power slam but Ryback escaped the ring and got himself purposely counted out. Mark Henry won, but not in the way he wanted.

Review: This match definitely pleased the crowd, as they were chanting “BORING” as the two squared off. These would have got longer as the match continued so the quick finish seems quite pointless of the whole match itself. It is surprising that The Shield did not attack but this could just be used as something to build up for Mark Henry. Pointless segment though overall.

Backstage, The Bella Twins were discussing the success of E!s New Reality Show Total Divas, and they almost got into a dispute of who was the star before agreeing that they both were stars. New Diva Eva Marie appeared and discussed Natalya before Natalya came backstage. Natalya slapped Brie Bella in the face after she insulted Natalya. Just an advert to show things are heating up on Total Divas, nothing really relevant.

John Cena was all seriousness when he cut a promo in reponse to what Daniel Bryan said earlier in the night, he was fired up to say the least.

The WWE Champion spoke about his loyalty to the WWE and also said that Daniel Bryan is not the first nor last to mock him. After quite a serious promo, things get even more serious with the arrival of Randy Orton. The Viper said that it does not matter who wins at SummerSlam because he would beat whoever wins.

The Shield show up and surround John Cena and Randy Orton but Daniel Bryan evens the odds, before a main event is scheduled for later in the night, The Shield vs. Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and John Cena.

Review: Quite a serious promo by John Cena and this was definitely better than some of his other promos. The Shield made things exciting with their arrival and the announcement of the main event built some excitement and speculation about what would ensue with the combustible elements teaming up.

The Wyatt Family dished out another dominating defeat after they dismantled Tons of Funk, but then Kane issued a huge challenge to Bray Wyatt.

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan were savagely beating down Tons of Funk before scoring the pinfall, then the hypnotic Bray Wyatt entered the ring. Wyatt would finish off Brodus Clay before delivering another subliminal and subtle message to Kane.

But then then fire went up in the ring and Kane showed up on the titantron. He had his own message for Bray Wyatt, telling him that at SummerSlam his own family won’t be able to save him surrounded in a “Ring of Fire”.

Bray Wyatt vs. Kane in a “Ring of Fire” is OFFICIAL for SummerSlam

Review: Compelling segment, the Bray Wyatt and Kane feud is another epic feud. The possibility of an inferno match has everyone abuzz, this is going to be huge.

Kaitlyn was left distraught again at the hands of Layla as she lost to her in a Singles match when AJ Lee got involved.

The former Divas’ Champion was hell bent on hurting Layla but then she was distracted by AJ Lee. Layla took advantage to pick up the win with the Chick Kick, and Layla and AJ skipped off in triumph.

Review: Just like the crowd the match had no interest until AJ Lee got involved. This feud is interesting but are we really going to see Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee again? Something else must be introduced.

Christian defeated Heath Slater in a quick and comical matchup where the #1 contender to the World Heavyweight Champion would outwit the 3MB.

After seeing off other 3MB members and stringing together some signature offense, Christian hit a huge spear to win.

CM Punk squared off with Curtis Axel in what was a very compelling match but ended in a No Contest, and the arrival of a Beast.

CM Punk nails a suicide dive. (Courtesy: WWE.com)

Following an enthralling battle including some back-and-forth action, Curtis Axel was on the apron and Paul Heyman was attempting to give him advice when CM Punk grabbed Paul Heyman, and prepared to attack him.

Then, The Beast Arrived.

Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring and CM Punk awaited him, but as Lesnar got into the ring, CM Punk was pulled out of it by Curtis Axel. He went to attack CM Punk but found himself on the receiving end of a GTS, before CM Punk went to take on Brock Lesnar.

CM Punk almost slayed the Beast, but his attention was turned to Paul Heyman allowing Brock Lesnar to take control and dish out a beating on The Best in the World.

Then in a backstage segment, Brock Lesnar had words for CM Punk at SummerSlam before saying “Paul, say something stupid” allowing Heyman to speak. Heyman announced he wants to fight CM Punk next week.

Review: EPIC segment. CM Punk and Curtis Axel had some great action in the ring, then the Lesnar and Punk brawl was great. I cannot wait for SummerSlam. By the way, “Paul, say something stupid” is the line of the night.

Kofi Kingston made his return after being injured at the hands of Ryback and got straight onto winning ways scoring a victory over Fandango.

Kingston – debuting new attire – would tango with a very game Fandango who came close to defeating CM Punk last week on SmackDown. After back and forth exchanges for the pinfall, a Trouble in Paradise hit home for the victory.

The Real Americans Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro were accompanied by Zeb Colter as they faced The Usos in a terrific tag team match.

Zeb Colter bashed the Green Bay Packers prior to the match, and we saw some great team work by all combatants. The Usos managed to fight off Swagger and Cesaro’s isolation tactics to put together a flurry of explosive offense but back in the ring Jey Uso received a cheap shot from Jack Swagger that lead to a very well-executed Neutralizer to give the Real Americans the win.

Review: Great tag team match, teamwork personified. I enjoy watching both of these teams in action and it was a really good contest. Hopefully The Usos only suffer this loss as some sort of rarity, but the Real Amercans needed the win more. Tag team divison is getting fun to watch.

Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler battled once again after their match last week had an uneasy finish, but chaos would ensue yet again.

Dolph Ziggler got off the mark to begin things with a superb drop-kick, before the two went back-and-forth until Big E Langston established his dominance. But after Langston hit hard on the canvas after a splash was missed, Ziggler came near to the win but it was just a near fall. AJ Lee observed the ring before Kaitlyn came out and the two brawled and it even went inside the ring, of where Ziggler attempted to split things up. However he became the recipient of a huge shot by Langston followed by the Big Ending to finish things off.

Review: This Big E Langston and AJ vs. Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn is heating up. Chaos has ensued in all encounters and this is leading up to a match at SummerSlam, I would guess a mixed tag team match. Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler had some great action in the ring and Dolph Ziggler puts over Langston without looking too weak in the process. Nicely done.

In the main event, The Shield battled the combustible elements of Randy Orton, John Cena and Daniel Bryan in a six man tag team match, but it would ultimately conclude in a disqualification.

Randy Orton takes control of Seth Rolins. (Courtesy: WWE.com)

Momentum was going for the team of Orton, Cena and Bryan early on, but The Shield managed to maintain control and isolate Daniel Bryan before throwing him into Randy Orton, and The Viper would strike back later on. Bryan would then manage to get the YES! Lock on Seth Rollins, but the other members of The Shield broke it up and suffered the disqualification loss.

John Cena and Randy Orton then fought off The Shield, followed by Randy Orton making an emphatic statement with RKOs to both Daniel Bryan and John Cena. Then the WWE Universe in Green Bay were on their feet when Randy Orton was on the brink of cashing in, only to be halted by The Shield who attacked Daniel Bryan and John Cena as Randy Orton looked on.

Review: Randy Orton has set in stone to turn heel, a good ending to the show that sets up the SummerSlam match really well and shows the delicate balance of the WWE Championship situation.

Overall Show Review: Awesome RAW, many notables including the makeover, brawl between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar, six-man tag team match, briefcase battling between Rhodes and Sandow, Kane’s challenge to Bray Wyatt and more. Cannot wait for SummerSlam!

Randy Orton holds the briefcase that puts him in line for a shot at the WWE Championship, that is all that matters to The Viper as The Shield beat down his potential opponents. Chaos ends as an opportunity for Big E Langston to defeat Dolph Ziggler. Kane and Bray Wyatt will step into a “Ring of Fire” at SummerSlam. Cody Rhodes got one-up on Sandow, but now they will face at SummerSlam. And much more from Green Bay in a great episode of RAW.

WWE Main Event – 7th August 2013 (Episode 45)

The Shield, Mark Henry and The Usos engaged in an enthralling six-man tag team match on the featured contest on Main Event. The Usos and Mark Henry dominated the majority of the match, thwarting any attempts from The Shield to gather momentum and this resulted in The Shield having to resort to their typical tactics. With the referee’s eyes of the action momentarily, the Hounds of Justice capitalized on the opportunity to pick up another win.

Also on Main Event, Natalya showcased her excellent wrestling skills when she defeated Aksana in Singles Competition, and Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel would defeat Sin Cara after he diverted his momentum against him.

Review: Featured contest of The Shield vs. Mark Henry and The Usos was very well booked and seemed to have much more meaning and anticipation than that of what would have been on RAW or SmackDown. Diva’s Matches could solidify a place on Main Event with a spot for action, but Curtis Axel vs. Sin Cara was predictable and we have already seen too many encounters with the two – all of which Curtis Axel has won.

TNA Impact Wrestling – 8th August 2013 (Episode 487)

The Aces & 8s began the show and quickly enforced their ruthless power, as Taz told commentator Mike Tenay to get lost. In his replacement, Jeremy Borash would call the action, but he would also be the recipient of some harassment by The Aces & 8s.

WWE Monday Night RAW – 29th July 2013 (Episode 1053)

Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon was flanked by RAW General Manager Brad Maddox when he opened the show.

Brad Maddox apologized for allowing John Cena to pick his SummerSlam opponent, but it was obvious that this was not on his own doing, but by the enforcement of Vince McMahon.

The Chairman proceeded to run down Daniel Bryan and indicate that he was not worthy of being the WWE title challenger at SummerSlam, much to the disarray of the WWE Universe in Laredo, Texas.

But the atmosphere would quickly change as Daniel Bryan himself would interrupt, and everyone in the Laredo Energy Center was on their feet embracing the YES! YES! YES! chants that filled the arena abuzz.

Vince McMahon stated that he did not like the idea of either John Cena or Daniel Bryan as WWE Champion, and wished that there would be a combustion between the  two when they lock up at SummerSlam, and that is the way that Vince himself would win.

Daniel Bryan did not show much care for that bizarre prediction, but had the WWE Universe shouting YES! YES! YES! once again as he left the ring.

    https://i0.wp.com/www.wwe.com/f/video/thumb/2013/07/20130729_RAW_Bryan_Vince_Promo_2.jpg
Vince McMahon all serious as he speaks to Daniel Bryan, but the #1 contender is far from interested. Courtesy: WWE.com

Review: Strong segment to start off the show because it got the crowd fired up. Daniel Bryan is really being used well to do this and this has an effect on the viewers watching as they enjoy it. The content of the segment is somewhat mislead, but still it has development with Vince McMahon being heel and the General Manager being caught in the situation.

Six man tag team action was next on RAW, as The Shield looked to settle their differences with The Usos and Mark Henry, after burning rivalries had reached a tipping point.

The Shield attacked Mark Henry previously, but then on consecutive occassions, The Usos would back him up on the verge of other attacks and see of The Shield. However, The Shield would be the ones leaving with the upper hand as they picked up the victory.

Mark Henry dominated The Shield in the early goings of the bout, but the Hounds of Justice saw an opening to team up on The Usos, using the tactic of reverting back to their corner to prolong damage.

Seth Rollins would also pay for his actions, after taunting Mark Henry, Jey Uso caught him off guard and was able to tag in Mark Henry who came near to dismantling Seth Rollins, until a spear by Roman Reigns cut this short.

Dean Ambrose and Jimmy Uso were left in the ring, and the SuperFly Splash that was thought to end it was blocked by the knees of Dean Ambrose, who followed this up with a bulldog driver to pick up the victory.

It was not ended there, as it left the World’s Strongest Man fuming, he attacked The Shield who managed to flee, but judging by that, this may not be the end of it.

Mark Henry and The Usos stare down The Shield prior to the bout. Courtesy: WWE.com

Review: The Shield’s booking on the card I think is quite positive as a whole because they produce great matches especially in six-man tag team action. They produced another entertaining match tonight with The Usos and Mark Henry. Many thought this match would happen at SummerSlam, but maybe there could be bigger plans now that The Shield prevailed. It is intriguing to see what unfolds next between Mark Henry and The Shield.

Ryback was featured in a backstage segment where he threatened one person who was having food at catering. The Human Wrecking Ball was very aggressive and threw the man threw a table, fitting the theme of his tables match later that night. I and many others found the segment rather comical but it is some fun that also adds to his character and is set up well for the Tables match.

Following a video package showing the Wyatt Family’s recent actions in the WWE, Kane intruded into Brad Maddox’s office and asked for the whereabouts of the Wyatt Family – he was obviously very angry. Maddox responded by saying that they were not there and told Kane he could send them a message in the main event against Daniel Bryan.

Rob Van Dam was the victor after he tangoed with Fandango in a match that ended in a countout.

Both competitors were very agile and flexible and showed this with constant back-and-forth jumps, kicks and the distraction from Summer Rae, who stopped Fandango from acquiring too much damage.

Rob Van Dam was on a roll with the Rolling Thunder and Monkey-Flip, but after Fandango untangled himself from the loss that was becoming an inevitability, he was about to be the recipient of a high flying move from Van Dam, but Summer Rae stopped it allowing Fandango to flee the ring, and he lost by countout.

Fandango spoke from the mic to pronounce his name correctly before dancing away. Meanwhile, Rob Van Dam embraced his victory.

    https://i0.wp.com/www.wwe.com/f/video/thumb/2013/07/20130729_RAW_RVD_Fandango_2.jpg
Rob Van Dam hits a sensational high kick sending Fandango to the canvas. Courtesy: WWE.com
Review: It’s great to see Rob Van Dam being used to face such fresh talent such as Fandango, and Wade Barrett previously. Van Dam is performing very well and picking up wins whilst also allowing his opponents. Fandango’s drastic increase of spotlight can only mean bigger and better things for Fandango, and many fans should be intrigued of what could be to come.

Divas Champion AJ Lee and Kaitlyn’s storied rivalry continued as they battled in Singles competition.

Throughout the match the former friends showed that they knew each other very well, as it consisted with a lot of counters and reversals.

Out of nowhere when AJ Lee came off the ropes Kaitlyn hit a spear to pick up the victory.

This left AJ Lee in another breakdown, Big E Langston tried to calm her down to no avail, then  Dolph Ziggler showed up and added insult to injury by further making the situation worse.

Then he laid out another challenge, he wanted a match vs. Big E Langston, right that moment.

Big E Langston locks in a chokehold on Dolph Ziggler. Courtesy: WWE.com

An impromptu match between former allies would commence as Dolph Ziggler squared off with Big E Langston.

A fast paced matchup between two prime athletes proved for some great entertainment… for the time it lasted.

Dolph Ziggler’s tactic of outwitting Big E Langston included side-stepping him to throw him over the top rope.

AJ Lee then engaged in a moment of madness as she attacked Dolph Ziggler, pulling his hair and getting Big E Langston disqualified.

Ziggler looked on from outside the ring as an irate Langston shouted at AJ, but then Dolph Ziggler hit the ZigZag on Langston from behind and kept Showing Off.

As Michael Cole put it, “everything is falling apart around AJ.”

Review: The Divas match was good and there is uncertainty about whether AJ will be in action or not at SummerSlam. Meanwhile I expected Dolph Ziggler vs. Big E Langston to take place at SummerSlam, but this could still be a possibility with the uncertain conclusion. This feud is dramatic but also gives Big E Langston the spotlight to show his talent.

World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio was in complete shock after he lost to Christian when he was dominating Captain Charisma.

The major turning point in the match was when Alberto Del Rio seriously damaged Christian’s arm with the steel steps, he would take a threshold in the match thereafter with vicious attacks dominating Christian.

Christian had minor glimpses of fighting back but none really materialized, it looked like Del Rio would finish it with a Cross Arm Breaker, but Christian reversed.  The roll-up pin got the win for Christian and Alberto Del Rio was livid after his loss.

Alberto Del Rio launched countless attacks on the arm in a vicious manner. Courtesy: WWE.com
Review: A standard match that was booked to put both of the stars in action obviously. Alberto Del Rio is definitely struggling to impress the fans but this match may have been different because it was not as basic. It had more of a triumph for Christian’s win and Del Rio lost in an upset, an interesting setting for the World Heavyweight Champion.

Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett took to the ring in quite a relatively short match.

Rhodes took some early punishment from brutal shots by Barrett, but with knees to the face of Barrett he regained control to deliver some perfectly executed finesse moves.

Cody Rhodes reigned victorious, but Damien Sandow would have an input of negativity, with a mockery of his family name that left him irate. As the Money in the Bank briefcase sinks somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, the Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes saga is far from a culmination.

VIDEO: Cody Rhodes vs. Wade Barrett highlights

Review: Wade Barrett is suffering from many losses currently in the WWE, hopefully this will change soon and he will gain some momentum. Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow’s rivalry is great as it showcases younger talent. The match was quite short,  but it did not need to be long as it did not really serve a purpose accept for leading it onto the next part of the Rhodes and Sandow feud.

Daniel Bryan and Kane squared off in one of two main event matches on RAW, in a clash of former tag team partners.

Daniel Bryan continued his great roll picking up the win after the match spanned for a few minutes. Unlike Daniel Bryan’s previous matches it was not as high paced, however this is understandable because he was in the ring with a big guy like Kane.

    https://i0.wp.com/www.wwe.com/f/video/thumb/2013/07/20130729_RAW_Bryan_Kane_2.jpg

The Big Red Monster managed to thwart Daniel Bryan’s attempts of the kicks at times and came close to sealing the match with a Chokeslam, but Daniel Bryan was able to reverse and got the inside cradle to pin Kane and win the match.

Kane was extremely frustrated following his loss, and delivered a Chokeslam to Daniel Bryan.

Then, the Wyatt Family came an attacked Kane again. Kane held off for longer than previously but it was the same outcome, and Kane was told to “Follow The Buzzards”.

VIDEO: The Wyatt Family attacks Kane on RAW

Review: Daniel Bryan continues to impress, this guy is on a great roll as of late and a win against Kane has tremendous value. Meanwhile the loss from Kane did not harm him much because of the situation with the Wyatts following the bout. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Kane and the Wyatt Family.

Brie Bella defeated Natalya in a Singles match, tensions boiled over prior to the match with the Bellas insulting Natalya’s looks. Natalya was distracted during the match by Nikki Bella, and Brie Bella capitalized to pick up the win.

Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel was in action against R-Truth, but CM Punk would effect the final outcome and almost got his hands on Paul Heyman.

They matched up well for the start of the match, before Axel gained the upperhand. CM Punk then had an input and took out Curtis Axel momentarily before going after Paul Heyman.

However, the Mad Scientist would just manage to escape after Curtis Axel fought off Punk for the time being. Paul Heyman has got himself in trouble with the Straight Edge Savior.

CM Punk gets his hands on Paul Heyman… but not for long. Courtesy: WWE.com

Review: This was a great segment because it showed how fired up CM Punk was. I did not care much for the match itself, but when CM Punk went after Paul Heyman it was great, and you get the feeling it is becoming inevitable as to when Paul Heyman will get punished.

Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were backstage discussing Daniel Bryan. Vince McMahon said he wanted “someone like Triple H… but 23 years younger”. Stephanie McMahon managed to sink tensions by suggesting a ‘corporate makeover for Daniel Bryan’.

It was tables galore in the main event as Ryback battled the WWE Champion John Cena.

The match was very physical with Ryback enforcing his dominance early on, but John Cena’s grit and determination allowed him to get back in it.

Ryback came close to winning when he had the table leaned against the turnbuckle, and he attempted to drive John Cena through it but John Cena sidestepped him and Ryback managed to thwart his own momentum.

But John Cena was able to hit the Attitude Adjustment sending Ryback crashing through the table, the WWE Champion picked up a huge win.

Daniel Bryan then appeared chanting YES! YES! YES! and he held John Cena’s belt, before Cena took it away and the two stared down once again.

Daniel Bryan could be the guy to end John Cena’s title reign, it is going to be interesting to see come SummerSlam.

John Cena and Ryback both utilized steel steps and tables to defeat one another. Courtesy: WWE.com

Review: Very physical tables match up, it is a rarity having these matches on RAW and it was great to see. There was a good end to the match and then when Daniel Bryan showed up he had glimpses of a heel character in my opinion. They have really maxed up on Daniel Bryan to show he poses a huge threat at SummerSlam.

Overall Show: Surprisingly entertaining for a taped show. Interested to see how Daniel Bryan’s corporate makeover unfolds, plus the situation between the Wyatt Family and Kane. Although nothing significant unfolded, the show was well booked and proved for some good wrestling. Good edition of RAW.

    WWE Main Event – 31st July 2013 (Episode 44)

Wade Barrett got back to winning ways as he defeated R-Truth in Main Event from Houston, Texas in the featured match.

R-Truth frustrated Wade Barrett during the match, as he mocked the Bare-Knuckle Brawler causing him to revert to an aggressive comeback, but eventually Barrett stated his dominance over the Truth.  It was a swift turn in momentum where Wade Barrett picked up the win. Following a flurry of offense by R-Truth, he looked to dive through the ropes, but Barrett hit the Bullhammer Elbow and picked up the win.

    VIDEO: Wade Barrett vs. R-Truth

In the other matches, The Usos defeated the Prime Time Players in a terrific tag team contest, a relentless offense by the twin brothers got them the win. Also, Drew McIntyre  was destroyed by Mark Henry in a quick singles match.

Review: While the featured match between R-Truth and Wade Barrett did not seem as appealing at first, Main Event proved to be a good show. The best match was the tag-team match, it was some great stuff. Meanwhile Mark Henry squashing McIntyre shows that he is raging to take on The Shield. Well booked Main Event.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Chris Jericho reveals that he is taking a hiatus from WWE, Tweets farewell to the WWE Universe

It was a great year in-ring for Chris Jericho, and many in the WWE Universe seem certain of his return, even though it will catch us by surprise. After shocking the WWE Universe with an appearance at the Royal Rumble, he has went on to have some great matches, and his best was undoubtedly with Rob van Dam on RAW. Catch him on the road with Fozzy very soon!

WWE Monday Night RAW – 22nd July 2013 (Episode 1052)

Opening the show LIVE from Austin, Texas was newly-appointed RAW General Manager Brad Maddox. He overlooked the contract signing for SummerSlam’s main event match-up between Daniel Bryan and John Cena for the WWE Championship.

Brad Maddox questioned John Cena’s decision to pick Daniel Bryan as his opponent, hinting that he was not really worthy of a title shot. This set up for the interruption of Bryan himself, who had the WWE Universe in the Frank Erwin Events Center in a YES! YES! YES! frenzy, before Bryan confronted Maddox.

When Cena was involved again, he said to Bryan, “You are the best competition in this company & I will prove at SummerSlam that even the best isn’t good enough.” Cena stated that Bryan deserved the shot, but he would not go easy on him.
And then it became official, the contract was signed and they were ready to collide at SummerSlam. But before they did engage in the SummerSlam showdown, the General Manager announced that Daniel Bryan would compete in “multiple matches” on the night’s RAW.Opinion: Quite an off-key start to RAW that had some interest but was not executed perfectly. Still, this has some excitement for Daniel Bryan running the gauntlet, plus hopefully as this builds things will get more intense between Daniel Bryan and John Cena. Brad Maddox may not be needed between these two, he just seems irrelevant.

It was a rivalry renewed as Sheamus battled Alberto Del Rio in Singles Competition. The two had previously battled over the World Heavyweight Championship from May to September 2012. This time it was the other way round as Alberto Del Rio was World Heavyweight Champion.

Sheamus makes Del Rio a victim to vicious chest shots. Picture: WWE.com

Sheamus was back in action following Money in the Bank where he picked up a nasty leg injury and it showed with a huge bruise on his left leg. Del Rio would exploit this by constantly damaging the injured leg. It was quite an action-packed match and a gutsy display by Sheamus, but Del Rio’s presence of mind allowed him to capitalize when Sheamus’ leg buckled when attempting White Noise, and went for the roll-up pin to score the victory over a previous foe.

Opinion: At first when we found out about this match I was not pleased. But it was a decent contest and Del Rio may gain a lot with a win over Sheamus. Meanwhile Sheamus could get some time off with that nasty injury.

Captain Charisma Christian took to the ring next as he faced Titus O’ Neil from the Prime Time Players. Despite being the recipient of a physical onslaught by O’ Neil, Christian was able to win via the Killswitch, continuing a great run of form, as he looks for One More Match…

Opinion: Good showcase of talent but I hope WWE will utilize the Prime Time Players better soon rather than just losing matches. Maybe their good showings in matches will be something of more to come in the future. Decent match but maybe too formulaic for one’s liking.

Mark Henry was in the middle of the ring and he was present to address The Shield. Mark Henry got straight down to business and called out The Shield, he was ready to fight. The three men made their entrance to the ring, and surrounded to attack Mark Henry. Henry did well to fight them off for a few seconds before the numbers game caught up and Mark Henry was in trouble. But to even the odds, The Usos made an entrance, reminiscent to that on SmackDown, by helping out Mark Henry to fight off The Shield, who retreated. We all know however though, that the fight has only just begun.

Opinion: I think this is a nicely developing rivalry. Many see this leading up to a six-man tag team match at SummerSlam,  and that would be a great contest. Mark Henry and The Usos find deserving relevance on the cards with a rivalry with The Shield, good stuff.

The Show-Off Dolph Ziggler stepped into the ring as he battled Darren Young. Ziggler and the Prime Time Players were fresh of recent run-ins and were to put on a good match. Ziggler picked up the victory but his celebration was short-lived, as Big E Langston and AJ interrupted. Big E Langston went to attack Ziggler, but Ziggler was able to outwit Langston with his speed and prevail with the last laugh… for now.

Showing Off: Ziggler triumphant following the victory. Picture: WWE.com

Opinion: Dolph Ziggler helped Darren Young to put on a good showing in the contest, and the Prime Time Players are getting more TV time which is a good thing. Langston and Ziggler’s feud is developing steadily.

The Miz hosted Miz TV with the Total Diva’s Cast and after introducing them, he handed it over to Jerry Lawler to host Miz TV, but as he welcomed himself to Eva Marie, who slapped Jerry Lawler! Miz felt the need to finish Miz TV off there with a final plug to promote Total Divas, but to spare you of telling you again, I need not tell you when it airs…

Fandango took on Cody Rhodes whilst Damien Sandow observed ringside. The two showed great talents in the ring to put on an entertaining match. Sandow was almost successful in his attempt to cause Cody Rhodes the loss but this was thwarted and backfired, with Cody Rhodes picking up the win. As Sandow looked on at the ramp clutching his Money in the Bank briefcase, Cody Rhodes was fired up.

Two For One: Cody Rhodes kicks Fandango but the damage appears on both Sandow and Fandango. Picture: WWE.com

Opinion: Great booking of both Fandango and Rhodes, an interesting match-up to watch. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes is a great rivalry and I hope this leads to a match for the briefcase at SummerSlam.

After the brawl that ensued last week between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar, CM Punk was in the ring and he had some choice words for both Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. He talked about how Lesnar may be the “Beast”, but he is the “Best”, and he laid out the challenge for a blockbuster match for SummerSlam.

CM Punk fired up for SummerSlam. Picture: WWE.com

He told the World, “I am not afraid of Brock Lesnar” and then Heyman appeared via Satelite and eventually accepted the challenge. There you have it, The Best vs. The Beast, it is official, what a match we will have at SummerSlam.

Opinion: Excellent promo by CM Punk as always and this seemed even more meaningful which sets up this match really well. Cannot wait for Lesnar vs. Punk at SummerSlam!

Rob Van Dam continued his roll in the WWE with a win over Wade Barrett. The Bullhammer Elbow was not enough to ground Rob van Dam but it was an interesting matchup and a good showing by both competitors.

Rob Van Dam hits the Frogsplash. Picture: WWE.com

Opinion: Decent effort by Barrett, I hope to see more of him on RAW. Meanwhile Rob Van Dam is on a roll, and I am waiting to see which rivalry it will land him in heading towards SummerSlam.

It was then time for Daniel Bryan to run the Gauntlet. He had a message to prove and to show that he deserves to be the WWE Championship challenger and SummerSlam. And no doubt he did by putting on a superb performance in his three matches, but it was an unfortunate ending.
Jack Swagger took on Daniel Bryan first and gave Bryan a tough challenge, but he managed to pull through and make Swagger tap out.

Daniel Bryan shows he can be ‘Very European’ as he hits the German Suplex. Picture: WWE.com

Then, it was a clash of former Ring of Honor Champions as Antonio Cesaro battled Daniel Bryan. As expected, it was an amazing match with both technically sound competitors, but Bryan would manage to prevail following a classic contest.

It seemed all odds were against Daniel Bryan as his final opponent was Ryback. Daniel Bryan put on another great match with Ryback but physicality was key with Bryan fatigued and Ryback capitalizing on this. Bryan did not give up, he continued to go but Ryback then introduced the table, and managed to dodge Bryan outside the ring and powerbomb him through a table and Bryan won via Disqualification.

The assault was poised to continue, but John Cena came to Bryan’s aid and fought off Ryback before challenging him to a tables match. This match was scheduled as next week’s Main Event by General Manager Brad Maddox, and then McMahon prompted the inclusion of Daniel Bryan, who was announced to face Kane next week too – a double main event on the cards for next week.

Bryan finished in the ring with the Texan crowd chanting “YES! YES! YES! and Bryan continues to be on top again.

    YES! via WWE.com

Daniel Bryan could very well be the next WWE Champion. His wrestling excellence culminates another fine edition of RAW, it may have had its low and poor points, but strong segments including the CM Punk promo and Daniel Bryan’s gauntlet kept it going. Enjoyable as we move forward to SummerSlam.

    WWE Main Event – 24th July 2013 (Episode 43)

Jack Swagger and Sheamus engaged in a brutal contest in the featured match. Sheamus’ leg injury was still a factor throughout and Swagger played this to his advantage by focusing numerous attacks on the injured leg. But the Celtic Warrior was able to fight back and put up an impressive stand against the Real American, and following an enthralling brawl he put things away with a Brogue Kick to secure the victory.

Meanwhile, the other contests on the night featured Sin Cara in action as he defeated Drew McIntyre whilst throwing off other members of 3MB, and Mr Money in the Bank Damien Sandow was able to ground Justin Gabriel just enough to pick up another win and garner further momentum.

Wrestling News from Around the Web

In this section of the article, we pick some of the biggest wrestling news from around the web this week.

    TNA Impact Wrestling – 25th July 2013 (Episode 480)

https://i0.wp.com/gyazo.com/a8772407f86f1efdcd72c6267756fe2d.pngThe Main Event Mafia were standing by to kick off yet another excellent edition of Impact Live. They were in the ring to congratulate newly crowned TNA World Heavyweight Champion Chris Sabin who captured the Gold on the previous week at Destination X. Kurt Angle then welcomed Sabin to the ring who thanked the Main Event Mafia for eradicating the threat of the Aces & 8s, but his address to the TNA fans present was cut short when Bully Ray – former World Champion – made an appearance flanked by his attorney. A bombshell was dropped, as his attorney announced that Bully Ray was unfairly lost of the title and it must be given back to him by the end of the show, or action would be taken.

https://i0.wp.com/gyazo.com/5f09d927946257ae0c8b53ef4111c23e.pngManik prevailed in a three-way Ultimate X match to be crowned the new X Division Champion. It was a fantastic contest to watch, which saw all superstars shine and show the quality of the X Division. Many thought it was over for Manik when he crashed his head of the steel following a huge move by Greg Marisciulo. Meanwhile, Marisciulo and Sonjay Dutt had IMPACT fans on edge as they battled on top of the structure, but Manik was able to recover and capture the Gold after throwing Marisciulo to the ground whilst Dutt was stuck in the structure. Manik was able to retrieve the title belt and become the X Division Champion.

Mr. Anderson picked up more points in the Bound For Glory series following a victory over Hernandez. Mr. Anderson was under pressure from Aces & 8s president Bully Ray to get the win and he picked up the win managing to outwit the power game from Hernandez to solidify more points in the Bound For Glory series.

The Knockouts Championship was on the line as Mickie James defended against Gail Kim. Gail Kim indeed brought the fight to James, but when tensions neared an epitome with referee ODB and Gail Kim, Mickie James managed to take advantage by getting the roll up pin to win the match and retain the title. After her loss, Kim was irate with the referee and just as things would develop into a possible brawl, Knockouts commissioner Brooke Hogan reminded Gail Kim that ODB was an active wrestler, and then Gail Kim retreated to avoid further confrontation.

More vital Bound For Glory Series points were up for grabs when two TNA veterans in Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels took to the ring. Both competitors know each other well, and it showed. But this contest would not end cleanly – when Samoa Joe went for the Muscle Buster, Mr. Anderson came up to the apron and had Joe distracted. He went to fight him but Daniels got him from behind and had to hit the BME twice to defeat Samoa Joe and take 7 points.

A long anticipated match between AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy did indeed deliver in the Bound For Glory Series. It was a compelling contest and both Styles and Hardy threw all they had at each other, an excellent match. Jeff Hardy came close to ending it with the Twist of Fate, but AJ Styles got out of it and hit the Pele spot on the head of Jeff Hardy. Hardy was slow to get back up to his feet and Styles capitalized to apply the Calf Submission Hold to submit Jeff Hardy. Styles picks up a big victory and a big 10 points, great match.

Finally, it was decision time. Bully Ray was confident that Chris Sabin would have to relinquish his Championship or Bully Ray would sue the company. Hulk Hogan was to enforce his power however, and as the GM of IMPACT, he was to counter the accusation and rip up the contract. Chris Sabin would remain Champion, for now. But as fair is fair, Hulk Hogan stated that on August 15 at Hardcore Justice in a Steel Cage match without the involvement of the Main Event Mafia or the Aces & 8s. Hulk Hogan had resolved the situation, but Bully Ray was in despair and yelled “I hate you!” at Hulk Hogan as he closed a fine edition of IMPACT.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown! – 26th July 2013 (Episode 727)

SmackDown was taped from Corpus Christi, TX and it opening things off to an outstanding ovation was Randy Orton. The Viper was in action against Damien Sandow, in a match where both Money in the Bank winners squared off. Had this been given a few months, it could indeed be a Champion vs. Champion match. Damien Sandow showed his aggression throughout the bout, meanwhile The Viper fired back on numerous occasions with lethal strikes. When Damien Sandow seemed to have attained some control on the match, Cody Rhodes made an appearance and took the Money in the Bank briefcase which was situated ringside. Sandow was completely distracted, and The Viper seized on the opportunity to deliver an RKO and win the match, kicking off SmackDown in emphatic fashion.

The Best in the World, CM Punk would be up next to address the crowd present, and the issue surrounding the SummerSlam showdown between himself and Brock Lesnar. The Straight Edge Savior stated that he knew Lesnar’s weakness, and that was trusting Paul Heyman. However he did acknowledge Heyman’s aid to his career, but was prepared for SummerSlam and he told the World that he would leave Brock Lesnar an unrecognizable mess after he is done with him. Cue Fandango, who danced around and then jumped into the ring and CM Punk attacked him immediately before delivering a GTS and putting him out cold. That’s how its done.

Put To Sleep: Fandango knocked out cold following a GTS from CM Punk. Picture: WWE.com

After they threw off The Shield on RAW, the team of Mark Henry and The Usos were in action as they took to the ring to face Wade Barrett and the Prime Time Players. It was a superb showing by The Usos and Mark Henry as they dominated. Mark Henry was tagged in after The Usos battled the Prime Time Players and he took out Titus O’Neil but interferences from Barrett and Young were dealt with by two sweet superkicks from The Usos before Mark Henry defeated Titus O’Neil with a World’s Strongest Slam, sending a strong message to The Shield in the process.

Rob Van Dam squared off with World Champion Alberto Del Rio, but the WWE Universe would not witness a lot of action. Only moments into the match, Alberto Del Rio escaped Rob Van Dam’s flurry of offense, and repeated this two more times before trying to catch Del Rio off guard, but Van Dam reversed with a superb kick. He then bombarded Del Rio in the corner, but Del Rio played to the referee as if he was hurt, and as the referee looked to aid him, he hit Van Dam with a kick to the face to get a quick pin and then leave the ring, leaving Van Dam in despair.

Making their in-ring debut, the Wyatt Family completely dismantled Tons of Funk. A brawl ensued between the huge competitors but the Wyatts would defeat Tons of Funk, but it would not be over there. Bray Wyatt would then further damage Tensai before delivering a message to Kane. They are waiting for Kane and told him to ‘Follow The Buzzards’.

Christian and Jack Swagger were in Singles Competition, following a back and forth contest Christian would prevail and defeat Swagger, before Sandow rushed out to the ring and he addressed the situation of Cody Rhodes stealing his briefcase.

Rhodes appeared on the titantron and he was near the Gulf of Mexico, and he told Sandow to come and get the briefcase from him. Sandow made his way to the Gulf, but just as he did, Rhodes threw the briefcase into the water and Sandow was left distraught as SmackDown drew to a close.

WWE Monday Night RAW: 1st July 2013 (Episode 1049)

Kicking off an excellent edition of Monday Night RAW was Daniel Bryan. With Money in the Bank just a fortnight away, Bryan told the WWE Universe in Iowa that he will prevail in the Money in the Bank All Stars match. (PREVIEW: Money In The Bank All Stars)
Sheamus was quick to bring up the fact that although Bryan successfully cashed his contract in, it was ended in an emphatic 18 seconds by Sheamus. Prompt on the interruption was Randy Orton, countering Bryan’s and Sheamus’ argument stating that he would win, before The Big Red Monster bust on to the scene. Kane disregarded friends in the ladder match, with the mentality of ‘Every Man for Himself’.
This was followed by the arrival of Ladder Veteran, Christian who wanted to put an end to the bickering and called himself “The Best”… And when you hear the word ‘Best’ thrown around, it is quite likely you will get the arrival of this man…

CM Punk got quickly involved into the mix and had a good argument considering he is the only man to have won the Money in the Bank Ladder Match twice.
Kane was an unlikely recipient of an RKO at the end, falling victim to The Viper after backing up Daniel Bryan.
Six out of the seven men involved made an appearance, but the absence of Rob Van Dam will soon be sorted, when he returns at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in what will be a terrific All Stars match.

The Shield continued the show when they were in Six-Man Tag Team action. They stepped into the ring with The Usos and Christian, three men rivalling for their Championships.
In a rematch contest from SmackDown which saw Christian and The Usos prevail, The Shield bounced back from the loss to triumph over the men who drained their momentum.
The renowned strategy used by The Shield was restricted when their opponents threw caution to the wind and jumped over the ropes to take out The Shield.
They were in dire straits but managed to become victorious among the chaos when all six superstars flooded the ring. Seth Rollins well-timed interference disabled Christian’s Killswitch, then the United States Champion Dean Ambrose picked up the win via a roll-up pin.
Major win for The Shield that has them back on track, but they have their work cut out for them at Money in the Bank.

Competing in a match for the first time since his devastating loss at WWE Payback, #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship Dolph Ziggler battled Jinder Mahal. Ziggler would also have to deal with the mischievous 3MB lurking ringside. However, Dolph dealt with the challenge very well, completely out-wrestling Mahal, before getting the upper-hand on the other members of the 3MB also. When Ziggler found himself in the Camel Clutch he managed to escape and execute his winning maneuver, the Zig-Zag. Ziggler got 3MB tangled up outside of the ring before triumphantly celebrating with the WWE Universe in Sioux City on the commentary table.

Following their encounter on SmackDown, Kane and Randy Orton went at it again this week on RAW, with Daniel Bryan overseeing the action as Guest Referee. Very quick counting by the referee would result in Kane winning, but not before he and Kane went head-to-head in a fierce battle. A biased decision gave Kane the win, but The Big Red Monster ordered his former-teammate to restart the match. And again, Bryan would have an input on the outcome, as his fast count gave Kane the win. Kane left distraught (after nearly Chokeslamming Bryan) and then Randy Orton gave Bryan an RKO to vent his frustrations on the loss. All three combustible elements will be part of the Money in the Bank All-Stars match, this will be interesting.

Fandango is back, and he had a slight spring on his step as he entered the ring… but definitely not when he left…

A vicious onslaught by the Celtic Warrior Sheamus had Fandango in trouble, and he resorted to leaving the ring and losing via Countout, possibly saving himself for another time, and more importantly the Money in the Bank Ladder Match that he will be a part of.

Ryback – still on a recovery process following his recent downspiral – took on The Miz in a match that started with Ryback implying full dominance on The Miz and sending a message to Chris Jericho who was calling the action ringside. But Ryback deteriorated during the match and The Miz would capitalize to take advantage of Ryback’s injured knee. Miz’s following onslaught was so brutal to Ryback that he decided he wanted the referee to stop. Agony was clear in his face, but that would be no obstacle for Chris Jericho to deliver a Codebreaker.

Mark Henry had plenty of words for the WWE Universe on RAW, as he looked back at his storied career, whilst also looking ahead to his WWE Championship match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

The World’s Strongest Man had ‘professional jealousy’ and ‘politics’ on his agenda when discussing about the industry, and stated that it had held him back over the years of the coveted WWE Championship. He was determined to attain the title, and focused, driven to win the title “for the business”.

Two Paul Heyman guys were on the same team as they battled The Prime Time Players. When Curtis Axel came to the aid of CM Punk last week, the two teamed up to take on them in tag-team action.
The professional rivalry between the two was imminent and evident, as both were stingy on tagging, and wanted to show who was better. The display was damaging of course to the Prime Time Players, and it came to an end when CM Punk hit the GTS, but Axel tagged himself in and scored the pin leaving CM Punk frustrated.

Vickie Guerrero’s time as RAW General Manager could be over. Backstage she was confronted by Stephanie McMahon, who broke the news to Guerrero that she would face a formal job evaluation next week on RAW, after her control on the show had been tied up with an inter-McMahon-family war for control.

Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger stood united as part of Zeb Colter’s new alliance. The newly-formed duo made their way to the ring when Antonio Cesaro faced Cody Rhodes in singles competition. Damien Sandow would also observe ringside, and these two teams will be in the Money in the Bank Ladder match in less than a fortnight’s time. Antonio Cesaro picked up a strong win over Rhodes going into the Ladder match.

And finally, the main event. In a monumental Champion vs. Champion match, Alberto Del Rio and John Cena proved that they had the right to call themselves Champions in quite an engaging war.
Del Rio’s cunning in-ring game had Cena worn out and made it a challenge for him, but Cena managed to trouble Del Rio locking in the STF.
With the arrival of Mark Henry, John Cena was indeed off point from then on in, but a surprise appearance by Dolph Ziggler stunned Del Rio, and he received an Attitude Adjustment.
But the night did not end there.
Mark Henry approached the timekeeper’s area and retrieved the WWE Championship belt, before stepping into the ring where Cena awaited to get the title. However, Henry got the one-up on Cena, by making him flinch twice when giving him the belt before walking away.

The WWE Champion was indefinitely shaken up, as he looked on at Henry and ahead to Money in the Bank, where he will defend his WWE Championship.

The commentary team ended the show with the final hype for the Wyatt Family, and the promo closed the show…

The featured match this week saw Christian battle Damien Sandow. These two men will be in the two Money in the Bank Ladder matches, and had a well-executed match on Main Event. Following a near-20-minute battle, Christian prevailed and avenged the crowd following Sandow’s insults beforehand.

Prior to independence day, Zeb Colter had Sin Cara at the focus of his verbal attack before Jack Swagger made Sin Cara tap-out to the Patriot Lock.

Big E Langston faced Curt Hawkins, a new Curt Hawkins of who has seemed to adopt a new gimmick, but nothing to stop him from the force of Big E Langston.

      TNA IMPACT Wrestling – 4th July 2013 (Episode 469)

Hulk Hogan began the show by addressing the X Division title situation. After Austin Aries had stolen the gimmick of X Division Champion, Suicide, Hogan did not accept the ‘Option C’ for Aries to relinquish his title in exchange for a shot at the World title.

Instead, he booked a three-way match between Austin Aries, Manik (formerly known as Suicide) and Chris Sabin for later on in the night, much to the pleasure of the LIVE crowd in Sin City, Las Vegas. Who would prevail and go on to Destination X?

The fourth member of the Main Event Mafia was revealed. Joining the prestigious team of Sting, Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe would be Magnus. Sting described him not as the future, but the now of IMPACT Wrestling, and Magnus said that “he had to think about it… for a split second”. With four members now established in the Main Event Mafia, Sting went on to say that if The Aces & 8s want a fight, they will get one, and the IMPACT fans will get a definitive winner in the main event later in the night.

AJ Styles and Kazarian have a long history, and on IMPACT their rivalry was renewed with higher stakes in a Bound For Glory series match. AJ Styles prevailed with a submission victory, but not before a match of where it was evident that both men knew each other well in the ring, counter after counter. An oddly-looking Christopher Daniels provided a comical atmosphere at ringside, but AJ Styles was all business when he made Kazarian tap out. Styles earns some valuable points in the Bound For Glory series.

Joseph Parks was in action against Jeff Hardy in the Bound For Glory series. Parks did well to stop much high-flying action from Hardy, despite taking a lot of damage. Jeff Hardy proved resilient when he kicked out a huge splash from the top rope, and he was able to further this with a Whisper in the Wind that busted Parks open. The strange and sadistic behavior kicked in, Parks saw blood and snapped, delivering a Blackhole Slam to the referee, before suddenly snapping back out of it. He was disqualified and Hardy won, but Hardy’s concern was more focused on the referee.

And in the main event, the X Divison title was up for grabs. Manik, Aries and Sabin would contest in an enthralling battle. Observing ringside was the Main Event Mafia to ensure a definitive winner, and World Champion Bully Ray who looked on at the next No.1 contender. https://i0.wp.com/gyazo.com/27709a56692dab0d653812e2b480e147.png
In an epic encounter, Chris Sabin prevailed after a spectacular match. The crowd in Vegas shouted “TNA! TNA! TNA!” as Aries and Sabin went at it. And no better way to finish the match than in spectacular fashion, with a finisher from the top rope and scored the win. Taz: “That was sick!” and the crowd, even Bully agreed. Chris Sabin looked on at the World Champion, and the new X Division Champ said “Bully, you might be looking at the next World Champion”. Instant Classic. What a match!

WWE Friday Night SmackDown! – 5th July 2013 (Episode 723)

Making a very rare appearance on the blue brand, the Best in the World CM Punk kicked off the show in Kansas. The Straight Edge Savior began with a dig at John Cena whilst discussing independence day and how it related to him of how independent he is. CM Punk told the WWE Universe in the Landon Arena of his two main goals. Goal 1, to get revenge on Brock Lesnar following the F5 he received two weeks ago, and second was to get his hands on the Money in the Bank briefcase in the upcoming pay-per-view. World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio would interrupt then interrupt CM Punk.
Alberto Del Rio said that this was “his show”, but Punk definitely disagreed with that. Del Rio criticized the patriotism from WWE fans with the “USA!” chants, and CM Punk countered this argument saying that the fans saw through his “Born in Mexico, Made in America.” gimmick, and called him a “phony”. Alberto Del Rio then ordered CM Punk to get out the ring, but Punk did not do so, and before any conflict came into fruition, Teddy Long came out and booked the main event between Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk.

Backstage, CM Punk was talking to Paul Heyman regarding the upcoming match. Punk stated that he would defeat Del Rio, and while Heyman attempted to convince Punk if he could be in his corner, the answer was again no.

Up next was some tag team action. The Uso brothers – looking strong ahead of their pay-per-view bout for the tag team Championships – were in action against Team Rhodes Scholars. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes talked beforehand about the upcoming Money in the Bank ladder match before going into the ring.
In a match that lasted only a few minutes, Rhodes and Sandow controlled early on, but The Usos grabbed a strong victory when Cody Rhodes was the unfortunate recipient of a Superkick, before a spectacular double splash on Sandow to pick up the win.
The Shield cut The Usos’ celebration short appearing on the screen, delivering a message about dominance, not luck that The Shield has success, and a stern warning to The Usos ahead of the Money in the Bank event.

A storied rivalry was renewed on SmackDown, as Christian and Randy Orton battled ahead of the Money in the Bank All-Stars match at the upcoming pay-per-view. Following a very entertaining back-and-forth battle, Randy Orton prevailed. It all began when Christian’s Killswitch attempt was thwarted by ‘Vintage’ offense by Randy Orton. When he went for the RKO the first time round, he was unsuccessful, but the second time round he dodged Christian’s jump from the top rope, and Christian walked straight into an RKO to pick up a hard-fought win.

Dolph Ziggler spoke to the WWE Universe about losing his title to Del Rio and was pretty fired up about his rematch in just over a week prior to his bout with Drew McIntyre. Ziggler’s maintained dominance, despite some glimpses of fightback from McIntyre lead up to the Zig-Zag for the win, before Ziggler outsmarted the 3MB again and showed off, just like he should.

Fandango and Justin Gabriel engaged in some high flying action compacted into a very short match. Fandango took advantage when Gabriel went for the Suicide Dive to hit him in the head before dropping an elbow – reminiscent of Macho Man Randy Savage – for the win.

The newly allied team of Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger were in the ring with Zeb Colter as they cut a promo on Independence Day. This dangerous, brutal alliance goes into the Money in the Bank and have good chances to win, in the ‘New America’.

In the main event of the evening, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio squared off with CM Punk. Paul Heyman called the action from ringside, which was great to see following his good old days in ECW. Following a near-20-minute bout, it ended in a No Contest. Despite, Del Rio’s constant attacks of Punk’s arm things got out of hand after a slight comeback from CM Punk. Punk was thrown into the barricade before Del Rio attacked Heyman on commentary.
However, CM Punk would get revenge by jumping off the table onto the barricade before finishing Del Rio with a GTS to close SmackDown.

The best match without a doubt was Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin vs. Manik. One epic contest on IMPACT Wrestling that you must not miss! These three superstars put on a clinic in Vegas, and what a way to crown the new X Division Champion..

For next week then… The Wyatt Family debut, Vickie Guerrero gets a formal job review, we edge closer to Destination X and have the go-home shows before Money in the Bank!
      And that’s a wrap!
